Robert Pressley, doing a one-off filling in for the injured Rodney Combs in the Petty Enterprises #43 Pontiac, also finishes in the top-10 in his last race before leaving the series to take a shot at Winston Cup. He competed against Craven for the rookie honors in 1995. Pressley wouldn't run in the series again until mid-1997 when he lost his Cup ride. 12. Martin only ran 15 of the season's 28 races but had 11 top-10s and 8 top-5s as he still finished 20th in points, the highest position he ever had in the Busch season points during his "Buschwacker" years. 13. Just like the Winston Cup teams Chevrolet teams would switch over to racing the new more aerodynamic Monte Carlo in 1995 although Luminas were not an uncommon sight in short track competition or with lower budget teams the following year. Dave Rezendes comes home 24th as he fields his self-owned #79 in the Busch Grand National Series for the final time, shutting down a team that had lasted since 1988 on the tour. Rezendes partnered up with Geoff Bodine for 1995 to race in the new NASCAR SuperTruck Series and it would soon prove to be a winning partnership, he would go from Busch series also ran to Truck series standout in the coming years. Johnny Benson, Jr. brings BACE Motorsports' #74 Chevrolet Staff America home eighth as he closes out his Rookie of the Year season. This was his #74 Chevrolet's last race in the black-and-orange colors of Staff America before a new sponsorship for 1995 from Lipton Tea, Rezendes' 1994 sponsor, saw the team change to a red-and-yellow livery. 15. I don't remember all of the details, but I remember the general story is that Earnhardt wanted to focus on the Cup race the following day where he had a chance (and actually did) clinch his 7th Cup championship. I don't remember why Waltrip was chosen to fill in. 18. By this time I think it had already been announced that in 95 he would field a full time Busch Series team with his crew that had worked on his Busch cars for him to drive the series part time for all those years. This was the 2nd race Michael Waltrip drove the car, plus I think someone else did too. They ran all the last 6 or 7 Busch races, maybe to get prepared to run full time with a driver other than Dale for the title would be my best guess. 20. Earnhardt's team did run the last 6 races of 1994, with Dale running 3 of them (curiously his engine blew 5 laps into 2 of those 3 races). Michael Waltrip drove 2 of them, including here (his other start being at Dover where the engine let go after 22 laps). The 3rd driver was interestingly Andy Petree, Earnhardt's Cup crew chief at the time--based on comments on that race's page his crew chief for that race was Ray Evernham. Yes THAT Ray Evernham. 21.
