Miller are listed as starting 43rd and 44th when there were only 40 cars in the race. One of DW's last great chances for a NASCAR win, I think he spun at one point though if an old racing magazine was accurate. 7. webmaster posted: 07.06.2009 - 4:25 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Those are the starting positions shown on Nascar.com and in the 1996 "Preview and Press Guide". Most likely, those two drivers did *qualify* 43rd and 44th but used provisionals to make the race with true starting positions of 39th and 40th. 8. Supposedly when his MW Windows Monte Carlo was rolled off the trailer it was originally given DW's famous #17 and he practiced with that number before switching to his Cup championship #11 for the rest of the weekend as series regular Robbie Reiser was already using the #17. TNN televised this race (as expected for Nashville) but oddly I don't think it's ever turned up on YouTube except for John Tanner/Chris Diamond crash on the backstretch in the opening laps. 11. binkerbo posted: 01.28.2017 - 1:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sterling Marlin was #2 not #22 http://www.rubbins-racin.com/forums/filedata/fetch?id=1331727 12. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 11.09.2017 - 12:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 7-16: #68,95 accident frontstretch Caution 2: Lap 114-118: #40 spun turn 4 Caution 3: Lap 128-132: #51,97 accident turn 4 Caution 4: Lap 145-152: #25 spun turn 2 Caution 5: Lap 154-160: #63,64,74 accident frontstretch Caution 6: Lap 168-170: #7 accident turn 2 Caution 7: Lap 176-180: #3,4,8,38,47,75 accident backstretch Caution 8: Lap 186-188: debris frontstretch 13. grissom fan posted: 02.22.2018 - 10:37 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Watching this race right now; so very interesting to see how many teams chose to bring their Chevy Lumina models instead of the new beginning in 1995) Monte Carlo; other teams opted to run V-6 engines, 1 of whom (Mike McLaughlin) finished 7th & was the 1st car 1 lap down. Also wish this track was able to remain on the schedule! 14. Johnny Benson was then interviewed and was upset (even though Benson being upset was him only smiling slightly less when he talked). He and his crew were convinced that they won the race. Nascar obviously stuck with the ruling that David Green won and Benson was 6th, last car on the lead lap. At this point in time Nascar had gone to computer scoring for Cup and all Busch races that were companion races to Cup races. Because this was a stand alone Busch race at Nashville, there was no computer scoring. 15. RaceFanX posted: 12.07.2019 - 8:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @13 Indeed. In addition to the obvious "short track race, better bring the old car" mentality there were a few of the teams that opted for a V6 engine in this race out of concern a V8 might be too much power for this track. 16. The driver of the Lube America #85 Chevrolet actually did better in this race than during that of his regular tour on the Nashville undercard, he was a distant 26th here but finished when he had gotten take out in a multi-car crash in the earlier race. While he only did a few races in 1995 Hall would become a staple of the BGN tour throughout the rest of the 1990s and the early 2000s. 17.
