Not only Tim's first Busch win, but also Doug Heveron's best Busch
Series finish (2nd, and Doug was an infrequent competitor in Winston Cup
in the 80s), and best finishes for unknown drivers Ron Thiel Jr (13th)
and Rob Wilson (15th). Tim Fedewa jumped from 9th to 4th in the point
standings with this win, eventually finishing 7th.

Ron Thiel made his Busch Series debut in this race and finished 13th,
which would turn out to be the best he'd do in his 4 career starts. But
you may know him for what he's done since hanging up his
helmet...serving as Jeff Gordon's spotter.

Dick Moroso's team had hired Jimmy Spencer to drive its #20 Fina Ford
but he was unable for this one due to the Winston All-Star Race. In his
absence the team recruited Joe Bessey to drive the blue T-Bird instead
and he brought it home with a top-10 run. Bessey meanwhile brought in
open wheel racer Rob Wilson to race his own #9 Chevrolet with his Busch
series debut netting him a 15th-place finish that would prove to be his
best in the series.

The commentators for the race were Ken Squier and P.J. Jones. The sole
pit road reporter was Ralph Sheheen.

Rob Wilson becomes the first New Zealander to race in NASCAR period. He
is a road race specialist

This was the first race that I ever attended. I don't remember much from
that day. Just watched the full race on YouTube, man that was a rough
race for many in the field.
