In a field featuring several big name Winston Cup ringers the Busch boys finished 1-2-3 and took seven of the top-10 spots. Chad Little's win here would be the last for a Busch regular at Charlotte for three and a half years. One of the Cup guys who was having a great day was Mike Wallace. Wallace lead a nice chunk of the early portion of this race until he spun and crashed in turn 1 while racing with Jeff Purvis for the lead. Chad Little dodged the disaster to take the lead and Purvis held onto to second but Wallace's spinning car was slammed by Rick Wilson putting both of them out of the race. 9.
