Mike ran away with it, too.

Junior Franks (33rd) and Gary Green (39th) start their only Busch race.

Toby Tobias finished 40th in this race. He died in 1978! I have new
respect for the dead! They can drive!!!

Since my previous post, this strange error has been corrected. The 40th
place finisher was Toby Tobias Jr., not Toby Sr., who had been dead for
more than 15 years.
I was obviously joking about the deceased getting behind the wheel. The
whole field would be in grave danger.

This was one of the first races I ever saw. Doug Heveron surprisingly
dominated the second half of the race, and was in line for the win...
until his engine let go with 17 laps left.

The first caution (lap 10) was planned by NASCAR for them to check tyre
wear, but Patty Moise just happened to crash. The surface was new, so
the teams had no idea. Brian Donley's wreck was hard, and Mark Martin
checked up and was crashed out by Jeff Green!

Heveron had a strange race. He lucked himself into leading by a full lap
when, staying out as the last car not to pit he caught the caution just
in time.
Afterwards McLaughlin got his lap back with the Grissom wreck, but
still, he was restarting mid-pack.
Then Heveron drove convincingly and dominated the race until his engine
gave in... too bad, I would have loved seeing him win.

Doug was running away with the race.. he had the best car, as he was an
old modified driver running with so-so tires on the newly paved Dover
track. If he didn't blow up, he'd have him a Busch win.

This was the first major NASCAR race at Dover after the track was
changed over from asphalt to concrete, thus the initial uneasy about
tire wear.

Due to a broken scapula, David Green pitted on the first caution and car
owner Bobby Labonte climbed in and finished the race in the #44.

Mike Joy, Buddy Baker and Darrell Waltrip were the commentators. Glenn
Jarrett, Randy Pemberton and Larry McReynolds were the pit road reporters.
