Sifton spun driver side into the end of the pitwall exploding the water barriers and flipping Sifton over and back onto his wheels. Sifton was able to walk away without serious injury. 2. Missed it because the bonehead Houston affiliate, KHOU, showed infomercials instead. 3. beerandbones22 posted: 08.28.2006 - 9:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This isn't the race that Victor Sifton accident happened in as stated above. That incident actually happened in a Busch North a month later in an event held before the Cup race. http://www.beerandbones.com/images/1995-Busch_North-Glen01.jpg http://www.beerandbones.com/images/1995-Busch_North-Glen02.jpg 4. It was in 1995, back when they ran the Busch North race the day before the Bud at the Glen. They had the Busch North race scheduled for Saturday on ESPN, but it rained before halfway. It was rain-delayed for several hours and shown the next morning on ESPN2 before NASCAR 2Day, and I remember my dad waking me up saying: "You have to see this". It was Victor Sifton flipping his #77 black Ford Thunderbird off the pit road water barrels and slamming back down on the track. He was fine, though. I think Joe Bessey ended up winning the race. 5. During the race he was relieved by Dennis Setzer, did Elton get hurt in the practice crash? 7. Randy MacDonald and Martin Truex were also relieved, by Dirk Stephens and Johnny Rumley respectively. 10. Rather, he ran #41 - the usual #47 he ran in Busch North with the 7 replaced by a green duct-taped 1. Johnny Rumley failed to qualify for the race in the Don Beverley #25, but then Martin Truex crashed on his last qualifying lap. Truex cut a deal with Beverley to put his #56 on the Beverley team's Big Johnson car; Truex yielded to Johnny Rumley early in the race. Victor Sifton and Rick Bye were both running yellow 1993-style Ford Thunderbirds. Sifton's had Tim Hortons on the hood. Sifton would be driving a black Ford a month or two later when he flipped at the end of the Busch North race. 12. The closing laps were incredibly difficult for Markham as damage after an off track excursion led to even more heat leaking into the Grand Prix's cockpit on an incredibly hot day. The Hensley team said that Markham was "baked like a potato" and recruited Jim Bown, their 1994 driver, to stand by in their pit as a possible relief driver after he fell out of the race. Markham however toughed it it to get a strong finish. Johnny Benson, Jr. got together with Jimmy Spencer in this one and the resulting spin knocked Benson down the running order. The Grand Rapids racer took advantage of the last caution to catch up to the field late then charged from about 17th up to seventh in the closing laps. While title rival Chad Little finished second, Benson's late charge minimized the effect of it so Little only gained 24 points on him in the championship hunt. 20.
