This was the last race for Daniel Welch's #59 Alliance Training Centers team but they made it memorable. Dennis Setzer scored his only career Busch pole then led 7 laps in route to a 4th place finish in the #59 Ford's last race. USAR Hooters Pro Cup veteran Marty Ward makes his Busch debut 5. Ironic that Buckshot Jones made his debut here, he would go on to win this race the following year. 8. Glenn said "People always ask me 'how are you going to react when you finally get to interview your brother in victory lane?' I said I'll tell you what I'm going to be professional. I'm going to be cool and calm and I lied. WAY TO GO BRO!" then hugged Dale...then ironically was cool, calm and professional throughout the rest of the interview. This was Dale's first Busch series win in a Ford, he'd go on to win three running part-time in 1995. 11. NASCAR reviewed the restart and determined Kenny jumped the gun so he was dropped back to 11th, the last car on the lead lap, as a penalty. Wallace didn't agree but was calm about it. Chad Little blew a tire while running fourth under the final caution and almost crashed as he came to pit road. NASCAR had already waved off a restart just before it happen so Chad was able to pit, get four fresh Goodyears, and take advantage of there only being 11 cars on the lead lap to pick off a few and salvage an eighth-place finish. Despite that hiccup Little was still able to more than half title rival Johnny Benson, Jr.'s points lead since Benson finished way down the running order after a crash in this one. Rich Bickle made a charge after the last green-white-checker restart and got all the way up to third but got up in the marbles in turn 3 and slid way back. Jarrett was able to cruise after he got a good jump on the field at the end and the other drivers started racing each other while he pulled away. Iowa short tracker Steve Boley makes his sixth and final Busch series start. He crashed on the final lap with Randy Porter but his self-owned #26 wasn't too badly damaged and he drove it back to the pits. The wreck cost Porter a top-15 run. This was Boley's only appearance in the series driving his own equipment. 12. That was a legendary team that had much success in the early 90s with Robert Pressley and had good sponsorship from Alliance Trucking Training Centers. Did Welch mismanage funds and run out of money? 13. Gray Gaulding's Distant Cousin posted: 11.29.2018 - 2:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @12 I believe Welch was also the owner of Alliance Trucking Training Centers. So basically the team was self funded and I presume it just became to much to maintain the team with out outside funding. 14. I'm 100% positive he didn't from seeing a slow motion replay. He said they were just confused and once they saw a replay it'd be fixed and even ended the interview by saying its good to finish 3rd. If they went back and told him for sure he wasn't 3rd, he was 11th place and he jumped the restart he wouldn't have been as calm. The crazy thing about Little's flat tire is that he almost crashed himself into the inside wall by trying to turn the car back and forth real quick to feel which tire it was so he could tell his crew before he pitted. 15.
