Mark Martin found out he had won on his jet home. Dale Jarrett dominated the race, leading 89 of the 100 laps, but after the race his team was found to have used an illegal carboratuer. He was penalized to last place. Martin, who finished the race nearly 2 seconds behind Jarrett, inherited the win 2. I just remember how no one could catch the #32. But my favorite driver Martin ended up with the win. 3. J. If you say so, this was the week before I started watching. 4. Anonymous posted: 12.23.2006 - 3:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The fastest Busch race ever, as of the end of 2006 season. 5. Was cool to see him win without winning. I think this race was the last time a win was taken away on one of NASCAR's top 3 series wasn't it. 7. Not sure but maybe a fine as well. As for the win being taken away, that's what should happen if the rules are broken no matter if fans that paid to go to the race like it or not. In the end it brings more respect to the sport in my view and makes any team planning to do something against the rules much less likely to do so rather than letting them keep the victory and levying a fine. As far as anyone that doesn't feel like the win should've just been given to Mark Martin. Well, he was 2nd and had the best car that wasn't found to have illegal parts or modifications. Plus, in the record books, this win added to his career win total in the Busch Series made up for the Bristol incident, lol. 11. Although I hope we don't, it's usually no fun to see someone get the win on a technicality. Ask everyone who watched the 2019 Kentucky Derby... 13. dennyfan11 posted: 06.16.2019 - 5:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Welp, it's no longer the last race where a win was stripped... 14. The next time a winner was disqualified occurred at Darlington in August 2019 when Denny Hamlin, another visiting Cup driver, won only to have his car disqualified for an illegal ride height with Cole Custer being awarded the win. He was the second winner disqualified that season after Ross Chastain finished first in a Truck race at the Iowa Speedway earlier that summer (and mentioned in the post above) but was also disqualified afterward for a ride height infringement, granting Brett Moffitt the win. A.J. Allmendinger also lost Xfinity Series top-5s at Daytona and Watkins Glen earlier in the 2019 season to post-race DQs. 15.
