Polesitter Johnny Benson entered this race needing to finish 12th or better to beat Chad Little for the Busch Championship. His 3rd place race finish secured him the title which made it obvious that he was ready for Cup. 5. driver1 posted: 08.12.2006 - 1:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) If you go to ask.com go to the image search and put in "nascar travel channel" it is the one with the number 72 car on the bottom and the sign behind it says "Delco 400". 6. He had run in the back half of the top 10 all day and wasn't even in contention to win til two laps to go. Wallace led at the white flag with Benson behind him and Bodine behind Benson. Going into turn 3 on the last lap, Benson went high. Wallace drifted high to try to block and Bodine made an Amazing move under Wallace coming out of the corner and they went three wide the whole way to the line. I swear there was only a quarter of a lane under Wallace, yet somehow Bodine made his car fit. 7. This was the first race for the Parker #72 team after removing Tracy Leslie from his longtime seat. Tracy wasn't fired exactly though, Parker entered him in a second car, the #86, for this event and Homestead, although he DNQed in this race because qualifing was rained out. 8. driver1 posted: 06.19.2008 - 8:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Here's the finish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsBKHF0j3Bc 9. He only ran that car again once in the finale at Homestead, the team hired Mike Dillon to drive it for the 1996 season. This was the fifth and final Busch win for Parker's team. 11. When Wallace went up to try to block Benson, Jr., Todd Bodine (72) played it smart and decided to take advantage of this to go on to win his 8th career Busch race, 1st and only of 1995, by 6 inches ahead of Mike Wallace. On a lighter note for Benson, Jr., he was able to clinch the championship, 1 race early. 12. We need more Onion posted: 01.25.2013 - 3:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Greatest finish EVER! The people in the stands went nuts. Me and my dad were just happy Martin didn't win because that 60 used to wins nearly every Busch race we went to. 17. I doubt Little would have had anything for the title, but he was running a lot better than what the finish shows. 21. They had been hyping the Busch title being decided at the brand new track at Homestead the entire year but it ended up just being the first ever race there with the Busch Series being the first of the 3 series to start the tradition of ending the season there. 23. Jimnsimforever posted: 03.13.2019 - 4:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The end of this race was like it would be in a racing movie where actual race fans watching would say that's a little unrealistic. Nearly every time the car leading the race going into turn 4 on the final lap wins. Once in a great while going into turn four on the last lap the 2nd place car wins and that's an extremely exciting ending. How often does the 3rd place car going into turn 4 on the final lap win, when not only do the 1st and 2nd place cars not wreck each other, but its not even on a plate track? I don't even know how to describe that ending and it's one of those ones where the people lucky enough to have been there in person talk about it forever. 24. Tracy Leslie started the car, Donley got in on the lap 3 caution and ran the rest of the race. 05- Doug Reid was original driver. Chuck Bown replaced him to use the past champions provisional. Jimmy Spencer broke his shoulder in a crash after his throttle hung going into turn 1. 27.
