By the end of the year he was a regular on the tour. Jerry Nadeau also makes the first of two appearences in Busch that year, he'd finish 39th with a DNF both times First of 5 Busch races for Mike Laughlin Jr 3. Jimnsimforever posted: 03.17.2019 - 2:38 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Steve Grissom, driving the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) car, had won the 1st race of the season at Daytona with WCW's Lex Luger and Sting in his pits and Sting apparently was even helping out and had a clipboard logging laps or something during that race. For luck in this race, his entire pit crew had their faces painted in the style that Sting painted his face for matches (old style Sting with the different color paints, we were still a good while away from the NWO coming in and Sting changing his face paint to the way it would be for the rest of his long career, black and white and inspired by a character from a movie at the time, The Crow). 19. While Moise ran the race here Sawyer, a Winston Cup regular at the time, would later drive the #14 in the next two races as Patty sat them out to heal up. Johnny Rumley and the Don Beverley-owned #25 team lost their sponsor at the end of the 1995 season and started 1996 looking for a new one. They picked up a one-race sponsor as Suburban Propane came aboard following their regular driver Tommy Houston failing to qualify but ultimately finished well down the running order. 20. As a result David Green and Randy LaJoie would leave this race tied for the points lead, a sign of things to come as the two would ultimately duel for the championship this year. 21. After the dominant Mark Martin smacked the turn 4 wall while racing back to a late caution (caused by Mike Laughlin's spin), 2nd-place Randy LaJoie jumped the gun and was penalized for pitting too soon - he was sent to the back of the line for the upcoming restart. When the green fell with 11 to go, Jeff Purvis lined up a distant 4th but managed to speed by Jason Keller, David Green and ultimately Joe Nemechek and scored the upset victory, just a couple of weeks into his first season as a Busch Series regular. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
