If I remember right from the broadcast on TNN, Ed Spencer III was
suposed to debut in this race but his team withdrew at the last minunte.
They were literally still listed in the starting lineup on the telecast
although they didn't race.

Busch Series debut of Ron Barfield Jr., Bill Elliott moved him up after
some strong showings in the Truck Series earilier in the 1996 season.

Setzer was very close to going into the catchfence the same way Geoffrey
Bodine did in his Daytona truck race. He hit the front end of a spinning
car on the backstretch and his car wheelhopped and leapt into the air,
but landed on another car before it could've hit the fence.

Actually Setzer just hit the spinning car of Jeff Fuller to get
launched. He was squeezed against the outside wall before the crash and
as jeff said he did almost get into the catchfence during it.

Mike McLaughlin also caught a little air in this one when he dove low to
miss the spinning car of Chad Little only to catch the back of the #23
Pontiac and put his #34 Chevy up on two wheels briefly. It came back
down on all fours but he still spun and became involved in the accident.

Hermie Sadler scores a top-10 the day before he made his Winston Cup debut.

Chad Little loudly yelled "dammit Phil" on the radio while TNN was
broadcasting his team audio live in this one. Little was cleared to drop
down on his spotter and then got loose like someone made contact with
him. TNN was showing from his roofcam at that time but it appears Phil
Parsons, who was right behind him, got into Little prompting the
frustration.

Correcting myself, jack's right a few posts back. Setzer did wheel hop
over Fuller, rare to see in stock cars but that's what happened.

According to the broadcast it was mentioned during the starting grid
rundown and when the car was involved in a wreck that the #55 driven by
Kevin Simmons was owned by Bobby Dotter.

Eli Gold, Buddy Baker and Darrell Waltrip were the commentators. Glenn
Jarrett and Randy Pemberton were the pit road reporters.
