What happened was that there was so much crap on the windshield that Buckshot couldn't see the white flag. He thought it was the checkered flag and slowed down! When he realized that there was still another lap, Mike had caught him, but he had just run out of time. 4. Dick Trickle came close to winning this race. He was leading until he spun out exiting turn 4 late in the race. 5. (He made one more start as a injury replacement in 1997) Didn't Reiser have a Ford in this race? 6. jp posted: 03.13.2009 - 8:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bucky popped ol' Magic Shoes into a spin after taking the flag. 7. He'd only had one top-10 before this race, a 9th the previous year at South Boston. Last NASCAR race for future Jeff Gordon spotter Ron Thiel Jr. 8. Jones spun just under a fifth of the way into the race after contact from Tim Fedewa, who was a couple laps down at the time because of an oil leak. Jones lost it off Turn 2 and was almost t-boned by Dick Trickle was the black Aqua Fresh #00 Ford spun back into traffic. 9. The cars kicked up a big cloud of dust on the first lap. Jim Sauter practiced and qualified Dale Jarrett's car. He wrecked the car in final practice and Jarrett's team elected to repair the car instead of rolling out the backup car. 10. 44andJoe posted: 12.24.2012 - 7:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #4 sponsor: David Lee Murphy 11. 44andJoe posted: 12.24.2012 - 8:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #90 sponsor: Helig-Meyers/Duron Paints 12. 44andJoe posted: 12.24.2012 - 9:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cautions: Lap 28-33, #14, #10, #72 accident turn 4 Lap 42-48, #00, #40, #48, #24 accident turn 2 Lap 63-71, #32 accident turn 4 Lap 91-97, #45 accident turn 1 Lap 105-108, #10, #90, #74 accident turn 4 Lap 127-137, #90 accident turn 4 Lap 139-146, #99 accident turn 3 Lap 171-179, #66 accident turn 4 Lap 187-191, #15, #1, #3, #81 accident turn 1 Lap 218-224, #95 accident turn 2 13. 83andJoe posted: 03.04.2013 - 7:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To the rear: #4 Jeff Purvis (driver change), #44 Bobby Labonte (driver change), #8 Kenny Wallace (driver change), #64 Dick Trickle (driver change), #32 Dale Jarrett (driver change) 14. He did not win, but he was ffascinating to watch. 15. We need more Onion posted: 11.28.2014 - 8:29 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Up until his wreck NATHAN BUTTKE was in contention for a win. Well, back then Buckshot winning was probably a bigger surprise than Buttke would have been though. 16. luigistarted06 posted: 07.24.2015 - 12:39 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Considering he had DNQ'ed for like 6 of the first 9 races this had to be just the biggest upset. 17. At one point, Dick Trickle spun into the inside wall off of four, refired the car, stopped for a few seconds in the middle of the track with a group of about ten cars approaching, backed up, refired again, and got back going with very heavy damage, and the caution did not wave. 19. This would be Heveron's penultimate start in #75 Food Country USA Ford, after he and the Charlie Henderson team parted company he would make only five more Busch series starts. 21. The race was on Sunday, I believe after a Saturday Daytona race. Some Cup drivers would hop on a plane to run this one, and in many cases in their own fledgling operations rather than a powerhouse like JGR or Penske. 24. danny posted: 06.13.2020 - 1:01 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't know if anyone noticed this but in that intro for that race the song machinehead by bush was used, Does that sound familiar to you. 25.
