It was supposed to be run on Mother's Day weekend but horrible weather prevented it. First scheduled to run on Saturday, then moved to sunday and still raining so they moved it to Friday of the Cup weekend. My family went there for the original race but since it was postponed and my dad had 2 tickets for the cup race by a coworker he and I just went. 2. He'd briefly become a series regular at the start of the 1998 season. 3. They were applying the new decals to the fender on pit road before the race. This was the first year that the NHIS race did not also count as a points race for the Busch North Series; the 250-lap race became a 200-lap Busch Series event and a 100-lap Busch North race. Glenn Allen, Jr. did enter a #99 Luxaire Chevy in the North race, though. 4. Dion posted: 08.09.2009 - 4:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bill Hoff made his debut in this race, finished in 39th. So Waltrip and Buttke were the two drivers who did not return from May. Buttke did not run because he wrecked his car the previous week at Milwaukee. #59 owner: Lee Smith 6. 44andJoe posted: 01.01.2013 - 9:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #45 sponsor: NWTF/Hunters Specialties #55 sponsor: Lub Tek #58 owner: Joe Keller #6 status: Driveshaft 7. 44andJoe posted: 01.01.2013 - 9:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cautions: Lap 6-8, #10 accident turn 3 Lap 101-109, #58, #40 accident turn 3 Lap 112-118, oil on track Lap 120-124, #47, #81, #23, #99, #72 accident turn 2 Lap 127-131, #14, #51 accident turn 4 Lap 158-161, #29 spin turn 4 #00 crew chief: Ricky Pearson #74 crew chief: Steve Bird #81 crew chief: John Fabian #95 crew chief: Kirk Shelmerdine 8. 44andJoe posted: 01.02.2013 - 7:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 42 cars were originally in the field when the lineup was set in May. Michael Waltrip (originally gridded 24th in the #21) and and Jerry Nadeau (scheduled to start 34th in the #59) did not return for the rescheduled race. The original lineup had also, apparently, included Nathan Buttke in the #66 starting last; Bill Hoff was /not/ listed in the original lineup, apparently taking Buttke's place. Jerry Nadeau had qualified that 59 car but he withdrew with the weather issues and Hoff took his place with his car but Smiths number. WD 59 Jerry Nadeau Winmiser CHevrolet (Lee Smith) 13.
