Busch legend Tommy Houston made his final start in this race.
Unfortunately a crash on the first or second lap ended his day early.
This 417th career start remains a Busch record.

1st pole for Buckshot Jones in his first race after switching from Ford
to Pontiac. He promptly lost the lead on the first lap and later put the
new GM into the wall head on, totaling it.

Cup racer Mark Martin picks up the season sweep at Rockingham, scoring
his sixth and last win of the season in dominant fashion. Fellow Cup
racer Dale Jarrett was the only one who could hang with Martin all day
and while he kept him honest his #32 Ford wasn't able to get around
Martin's #60 Ford at the end of the day.

LaJoie finished 9th in the race, so he had a 33-point lead heading into
the finale at Homestead. That meant he had to finish in the top 6 to
clinch the title (back when points mattered.)

Weird seeing a young Biffle with long curly blond hair and a blond
mustache. Anyway, a nightmare start to Biffle's Nascar debut as he
caused that big wreck just a couple laps into the race. Or maybe his
spotter didn't tell him someone was still underneath him, who knows.

David Green had led the points from Richmond in March all the way to
Charlotte in October before his brutal crash early there allowed Randy
LaJoie to take the points lead. After being cut out of the car at
Charlotte Green was healed up and back behind the wheel of the #95
Caterpillar Chevrolet here just two weeks later and he turned in a top-5
run in his comeback. Green's strong run allowed him to chop 17 points
off LaJoie's lead as the title fight would go down to the last race.

Glenn Jarrett and Randy Pemberton were the pit road reporters.
