Harry Gant was more than a year younger when he won at Atlanta in his final season. 8. CBASS posted: 01.04.2014 - 12:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor update #4 H.S. This was Fedewa's first top-5 for the team after joining the reigning champion outfit to race the new #33 at the start of the season. 12. jensenators posted: 10.13.2018 - 12:12 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) According to the TV broadcast: List of DNQ's included Stanton Barrett. The caution at 100 and 200 were basically like Halftime breaks. Because of the lack of a normal pit road, Nascar allowed for the breaks to let teams change tires without being able to gain or lose positions. Car 45 was a chevy. They showed a close up of the car during the first caution. 13. Qualifying was rained out and because they were at Hickory and 31 cars were the max for that small track the entire field was set by points. Unfortunately for Dale Jr he nor anyone else had driven the 31 car in any of the 6 races before this, so he didn't make the race. Jason Jarrett made his debut in this race but he got in the field in the 28th spot because his dad had run his car in 4 of the first 6 races, so it had points. I'm pretty sure by looking at it that there were no spots decided by entry blanks like they would normally do with 42 or 43 car fields. 14. There is a cemetery right beside the race track (Bobby Isaac, 37 Cup wins and a championship is buried there). Anytime there is a graveside service going on at the same time as a race, they red flag the race until the funeral is completely over out of respect for the people mourning. During the broadcast Eli Gold said he has broadcasted races where it happened and Buddy Baker said he ran races at Hickory where that happened. 15.
