Wall's #7 was a 2nd car to LaJoie's team car, ESPN mentioned it on the
broadcast (same paint scheme, sponsor, etc., BACE just removed the 4
after the 7), although for years Ed Whitaker had the BGN #7, so this
mixup is totally understandable.

Park had the only car in the field more dominant than Sadler's, but
around the midway point he developed a skip in the motor and with 30 to
go it cut out on him for good.

Todd Bodine had slipped from 2nd to around 10th in the early going after
the handling went away on his car, but was able to fight back through
the field and get to Sadler's bumper by the final laps, with both
leaders cutting through lapped traffic and Elliott narrowly able to hold
the #36 off.

Elliott Sadler's victory made him the fourth first-time winner of 1997
season. This was the third year in a row the Nazareth round of the
championship produced a first-time winner following Tim Fedewa's win in
1995 and Randy LaJoie's 1996 triumph.

Dick Trickle was in Charlotte the day before this race for the Winston
Open and missed qualifying, had to start in the back of the field. Jim
Sauter qualified the car for him.

Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons were the commentators. Bill Weber and Ray
Dunlap were the pit road reporters.
