Joe Bessey had a wonderful explanation. He said he thought Dale Shaw
might need a bigger helmet, so he thought he'd offer his. It was great
watching Shaw toss the helmet back out the window under caution.

Defending race winner Kenny Wallace makes his only Busch series start of
1997. He attempted two races earlier in the season but didn't qualify,
finally getting a chance to race his Graybar #12 Ford here for FILMAR
after the rough DNQ at Gateway over the summer.

DC: Bobby Labonte #44 Shell Oil Pontiac Owner: Bobby Labonte.

Bobby qualified the car for Tony Stewart who was in Las Vegas for an IRL
test and missed first-round qualifying.
