Nowadays, if someone bumps a fellow driver, they'll be lucky to get a gentle reprimand. 2. Bill posted: 03.23.2006 - 6:20 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Well there was a lot more to it than that. Purvis did his rough driving on pit road and this was one of the tracks that had no pit wall. 3. That didnt sit too well with NASCAR and he got penalized a lap. 4. He lead the entire race up to that point. NASCAR black flagged him for rough driving, which makes no sense because his dad did that stuff alot and got away with it. See his run-ins with Terry Labonte at Bristol in 1995 and 1999 8. gary24fan posted: 10.15.2011 - 12:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Car #'s for DNQ's: Jim Bown - 78 Kelly Denton - 75 Patty Moise - 14 Jeff Krogh - 56 Ashton Lewis - 89 Kevin Prince - 90 Toby Robertson - 12 Mark Krogh - 80 Casey Atwood - 27 Johnny Chapman - 73 9. He rear ended Mark Green coming into the pits and proceed to pull up alongside him and side swipe him right in Green's own pit stall. Purvis' crew proceeded to swarm Green's crew and the two crews proceed to fight. Afterwards, Purvis got out of his car and was so enraged that the officials literally had to restrain him. Rivals Kyle Busch's dumping of Ron Hornaday in the Texas Truck race last year in terms of sheer disgracefulness. 11. TaterRacing posted: 04.30.2013 - 10:20 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) In fairness to Bessey, he did nothing wrong. He was trying to stay on the lead lap and Dale Jr. just didn't feel like trying to pass him and he dumped him. Fedewa was hot on his tail. The penalty was justified because Bessey wasn't the only driver Dale Jr. dumped that night. He also spun Mike Dillon. 12. This would be the only season where he won more than one race. 13. 27andJoe posted: 02.27.2014 - 7:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #73 owner: Jimmy Douglas #27 sponsor: Brewco Motorsports (Clarence Brewer) #80 sponsor: Clearwater Forest Industries Chevrolet (Robert Krogh) #89 sponsor: Fiberall/Allerest Ford (Meredith Ruark) #90 sponsor: Golden Leaf Chevrolet (Charles Prince) 14. 23andJoe posted: 03.04.2014 - 3:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #8 crew chief: ??? After accomplishing a 3-peat from 1995-97, they had a down year in '98 and then drastically fell off. 16. Jimnsimforever posted: 04.16.2020 - 4:52 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @17,18 Maybe he was meaning why was he in the 59 instead of the 40. Kevin LePage was signed to drive the 40 car in the Busch Series in 98 in all races that didn't conflict with his Cup schedule driving the #91 car. 40 car owner Doug Taylor had already announced weeks before this that Kerry Earnhardt would drive the 40 car in several races LePage wouldn't be available including this one specifically. After already committing to this, LePage was fired from the 91 Cup car during the Sears Point race weekend for agreeing to drive the 16 car for Jack Roush after Watkins Glen without talking to them about it at all. The 59 Busch car was driven by Robert Pressley when it didn't conflict with his Cup schedule and Hornaday had been driving the 59 when it did, but Hornaday was at the truck race. Kevin LePage was a big time hot commodity at this point in time so the 59 team jumped at the chance to get him to drive the car at this race is a very long explanation of what likely happened. 20.
