Rick Mast makes his first Busch start in 5 years filling in for Jimmy Spencer, who was still suffering from the effects of a concussion sustained during the Brickyard 400. A solid top-10 start and finish closed the books on Mast's BGN career. 5. The "C" in "Brewco" that appears as the sponsor of Casey Atwood's #27 car that failed to qualify for this race needs to be a lowercase letter here. That is because "Brewco" with a lowercase "C" was listed as the sponsor of Atwood when he ran the #27 in the 1998 Myrtle Beach 250. It was Atwood's lone start with the team in 1998, which he would run full-time with in 1999 and 2000, and return to in 2006, 2007, and 2008. 21. ericthenau posted: 03.22.2014 - 9:04 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) We need more Onion, the penultimate NASCAR Busch Grand National Series race at Langley Speedway on April 30, 1988 had all 23 cars finish the race. The 1995 race won by Mark Martin held onto the record with a speed of 169.571. That race also ran caution free, but had 8 DNF's among the 42 cars that started it. 25. The Cup series did not achieve that since 1996 at the last North Wilksboro race, and those races this and the 2013 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis had it when NASCAR in Cup and Xfinity capped their fields at 43. 26. Based on lead changes, it looks like drivers were able to go between 55 and 62 laps on fuel. Does anyone have an explanation for how they were able to go so far? I thought a typical fuel run at Michigan back then was more like 50-55 laps. 29.
