Buckshot had this one won until he blew an oil fitting. He ran with a
heavily smoking car for a lap or two before having to pit, forfeiting
his lead.

this race was the first race for CBS Sports with those blue graphics
they used for NASCAR and previously debuted during the week of the US
Open and when they got back the NFL.

Sponsor update: #8 Bobby Hillin, Clean Shower/Mac Attack

Mark McGwire had just finished breaking the single season home run
record in 1998. He was one of 6 MLB players who owned the #8 car
together. The race was in the St. Louis area and McGwire played for the
Cardinals at the time, so they ran a special scheme honoring him.
