Then the NASCAR Winston Cup race was rained out, forcing it to be run monday and the Busch Series to be postponed by over 8 months. Dale Earnhardt Jr's 2nd place finish solidified his first series championship. 2. James W. McLaughlin posted: 12.22.2006 - 1:04 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Patty Moise's final race. 3. Well, this athlete wasn't headed for a driving career per se, but instead looked toward team ownership, and in this race he fielded a car for debuting youngster Gus Wasson. Though he qualified and finished in the top-18, remarkable for an upstart outfit as that of Hoiles, to my knowledge it was the only start in a major NASCAR series for Hoiles Motorsports. Chris retired from pro baseball the next year as well. 4. Jarrett had been driving for Isenhower ever since the very first Busch race in 1982! All of Jarrett's Busch starts to this point came for Isenhower. Also basically the end of Dale Jarrett's Busch days. After years as a regular and some as a ringer from the Cup Series, DJ seriously cut back his appearences in Busch after 1998, making just 7 more starts between 1999 and 2007 5. gary24fan posted: 10.15.2011 - 12:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Car #'s for the DNQ's: Tracy Leslie - 97 Jeff Finley - 79 Ken Bouchard - 50 Nathan Buttke - 78 Randy MacDonald - 7 Curtis Markham - 89 Gary Bradberry - 86 Hut Stricklin - 92 Lyndon Amick - 35 No info found for Morgan Shepherd 6. ericthenau posted: 05.15.2013 - 6:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To add to what gary24fan posted in the last comment: Morgan Shepherd - 07 7. 23andJoe posted: 02.26.2014 - 7:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #49 owner: Chris Hoiles 8. 23andJoe posted: 02.27.2014 - 7:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Order of DNQs: 44. #86 Bradberry 45. #89 Markham 46. #7 MacDonald 47. #97 Stricklin 48. #78 Buttke 49. #97 Leslie 50. #50 K.Bouchard 51. #35 Amick 52. #79 Finley According to what I can find, Morgan Shepherd did NOT attempt this race and should be removed from the DNQ list. 9. 23andJoe posted: 02.27.2014 - 7:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #86 make: Chevrolet (Don Marcrum) #89 make: Ford (Meredith Ruark) #7 sponsor: 3M Chevrolet (Ed Whitaker) #35 sponsor: SCANA/Myrtle Beach Chevrolet (Bill Amick) #50 sponsor: Dr. Pepper Ford (Joe Washington) #78 sponsor: Mark III Financial Chevrolet (Dan Browder) #79 sponsor: Rensi Motorsports Chevrolet (Ed Rensi) #92 sponsor: Kraft Chevrolet (Mac Martin) #97 sponsor: Beanie Racing Chevrolet (Tracy Leslie) 10. ericthenau posted: 03.22.2014 - 9:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Actual and correct order of DNQ cars (listed from fastest to slowest qualifying speeds) 44. #97 Tracy Leslie 45. #35 Lyndon Amick 46. #92 Hut Stricklin 47. #86 Gary Bradberry 48. #89 Curtis Markham 49. #7 Randy MacDonald 50. #78 Nathan Buttke 51. #50 Ken Bouchard 52. #79 Jeff Finley 53. #07 Morgan Shepherd Morgan Shepherd must have entered this race at the very least, since NASCAR did give his car owners points after the race. The Monday after this race. He had his gallbladder removed because of gallstones. Also. Elliott Sadler had a hard crash in this race. Hitting the outside wall head on. Fortunately, he was stunned. But otherwise uninjured 13. Just gave it a new paint job and driver. 16. Rich posted: 09.18.2020 - 7:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dr. Jerry Punch, Benny Parsons and Kyle Petty were the commentators. It mentioned that qualifying was cancelled and the starting grid was set be owner points. Here is the top 12 starting positions as mentioned from RPM 2 Night episode from March 6th. The race got postponed until November that NASCAR decided to have qualifying. Randy Lajoie won the pole (actually started 43rd) Past Champ Provisional Matt Hutter starting 2nd (actually didn't participate in the race) Got released mid season Dale Earnhardt Jr 3rd (actually started 6th) Mike Mclaughlin 4th (actually started 3rd) Elliott Sadler 5th (actually started 28th) Phil Parsons 6th (actually started 15th) Buckshot Jones 7th (actually started 14th) Elton Sawyer 8th (actually started 11th) Tim Fedewa 9th (actually started 37th) Took a provisional Hermie Sadler 10th (actually started 38th) Took a provisional Dick Trickle 11th (actually started on the pole) Jason Keller 12th (actually started 35th) Dick Trickle is one of the benefactors of the qualifying grid changed that he started on the pole. Randy Lajoie originally supposed to start on the pole was the biggest losers of the grid change that he took a past champ provisional and started last. Tim Fedewa and Hermie Sadler also big losers with the grid change that both drivers had to use provisionals. Does anyone know the exact reason that NASCAR didn't use the original grid set in March? Similar thing happened in 1993 that Busch race was postponed from March until November that NASCAR used the qualifying grid set in March of that year. Many drivers had to start in the rear of the field due to driver changes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
