It looks like Joe Nemechek beat him by, say, two inches. I dunno, tho. 3. Great racing and a great finish, despite the big wreck caused by Kelly Denton turning Ken Schrader into the wall and causing a huge fireball to erupt from under Kenny's car. 4. Eletronic scoring didn't lie here, Labonte won it by the closest of margins. 5. Darrell posted: 07.31.2006 - 1:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The first Busch Series race I watched. Remember it like it was yesterday. Schrader's helmet got chipped badly by that crash. 6. It looked like it could be one car wreck, and as the camera follows him, we see a sea of wrecking cars come into view. 7. I watched this race in 1999 and I've seen this finish about 100 times and I still have no idea who the hell won this race! crazy? watch it! I mean It looks like Nemechek got him and Nemechek's team was celebrating, but It so hard to tell! 10. For a race team that had grocery baggers for pit crew members, and came from last to first and from last to 20th after being black flagged for a wreck that wasnt his fault. Trying to get his first career victory, watch the tape ken schrader comes down on top of kelly and nascar hands out a black flag to a young race car driver because his last name isnt Earnhardt or Andretti 13. Nemechek was solidly in the lead until the backstretch of the final lap, where Purvis shoved Texas Terry close enough to challenge for the win. MRN radio declared the winner before ABC came back on the air after a commercial break. 15. 18fan posted: 03.20.2009 - 2:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Nemechek's team's celebration was like Kasey Kahne's team at the 2004 Subway 400. 16. Then there was the second half of it. Dillon got spun, and he spun into everybody else. That could have killed Schrader. My God, what a wreck. About half the guys that came back out were black flagged. I think Raines was the only one of the guys that did not get black flagged. Schrader got some minor air. Denton done nothing wrong. And by the way, it looked like nemechek won by about 5 in. 18. Matthew Tesfaye posted: 06.03.2010 - 9:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) How many cars were involved in the big wreck. 19. The camera followed Schrader's car as it twirled around and almost came to a stop on the apron near turn 1. As the camera turned to follow the #15, it caught a glimpse of the second big pack beginning to pile up coming towards the first corner. Next thing you know, a SEA of wrecking cars go sailing right past the camera! I believe it was Jeff Krogh that spun into the back of Schrader's nearly stopped car that ruptured the #15's fuel cell. Kenny's helmet actually got burned in the accident; he showed off his slightly charred helmet during his interview after he came out of the infield care center. 30. I am just curious, but he still has that role he has had for 25 year and change, I just forgot his name but regonize the voice. I get that too sometimes with other folks I see the guy who does the Fox voice overs often too for there sporting events and other things i again forget his name too but again notice the voice. Just get tricked up by the name of who it is. 42. rm posted: 07.29.2020 - 10:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 1 crew chief - Johnny Allen At the time of the big one in this race, there were 38(!) cars still on the track, with 13 of them making up the lead draft and one more - Hank Parker Jr. - on pit road with a flat tire. Of the 24 cars that were in the second pack, separated from those in the lead draft, 20 of them apparently managed to wreck at full speed approaching what had been a three-car incident a few seconds earlier. The booth had been able to go on about how nice the field had been playing all day to this point, and they had been completely accurate in their observations - they rode around 4-wide at points for far longer than would usually be advisable - so of course when things finally went wrong, they went wrong in spectacularly terrible fashion. 43.
