This was an unusually wild Fontana Busch race. ABC cut away from this
race with about 8 laps to go to show the Kentucky Derby. They moved it
over to ESPN and Todd Bodine backed it in the wall hard in turn 2 giving
Matt Kenseth the win under caution.

Was this the race that got delayed a bit because a factory was on fire
down the street?

This proved to be Adam Petty's best career finish in NASCAR racing, 4th
place.

Dale Jr. had the fastest car near the end of the race, but Bodine's hard
crash ended Junior's chance of a comeback after spinning out mid-way
through the event.

10 DNQs for Busch series non-Daytona race?! Wow! And pretty good names
among them - Marlin, B.Bodine, W.Burton, Kenny Irwin Jr.

DNQ cars (owner):
Ward Burton- #02 Murray Pontiac (Bill Davis)
Sterling Marlin- #42 Circuit City Pontiac (Joe Gibbs)
Stevie Reeves- #25 Dura Lube Chevrolet (Ed Rensi)- Same for the previous
race at Talladega and Kenny Wallace's DNQ at Memphis

Stevie Reeves' DNQ here was the end of his Busch series career. He ran a
few IndyCar and Truck races after this though.

Marlin, Joe Gibbs, and Circuit City originally had a five-race deal to
run together in Gibbs' #42 Pontiac. The partnership made the field at
Las Vegas earlier in the year but after DNQs at Texas and California it
ended. Marlin was replaced by Jeff Fuller for four races later in the year.

Qualifying was rained out. The starting lineup was set as follows:

1st-34th: car owner points
35th-37th: prior/current year car owner race winners
38th: most recent past champion
39th-43rd: entry blank postmark
