Earnhardt Jr wrecked Kenseth off two and that was it for Kenseth's 1999 Busch Championship run. 2. I had to go to a friend's birthday party that day, and I remember right before I left, Junior took the lead. Thankfully I didn't miss too much. 3. He failed to qualify for the events at South Boston and Watkins Glen, and on July 3rd suffered near-fatal injuries in a practice crash at the Milwaukee Mile that ended his NASCAR career. 5. Kenseth was caught up in a Joe Bessy spin, sending him into the inside wall on the backstretch. Junior and Ward Burton fought for the battle near the end, but Burton's car faded near the end. This race was delayed about 20 minutes when Phil Parsons scraped the wall, sending Jeff Fuller sideways straight into the frontstretch inside wall. Fuller hit it with such force that it bent the wall, forcing track workers to re-weld the wall for the final 36 laps. Fuller walked away, saying he had such bad luck for the whole season that he wouldn't be surprised if Dover sent him a check for fixing the wall. 8. I remember that he was a recipient of the bump and run by Dale Jr. but still managed to finish in the top 5. For a guy to race that well that weekend, and at the age of 58 is pretty impressive. If his car had performed a bit better, IMO, he probably would have won that race. 14.
