This race was moved back to its traditional July slot and run at night
to combat the heat.

In winning this race Dale Earnhardt Jr took the point lead from Matt
Kenseth and never looked back.
Take a look at who failed to qualify. Notice the 8th name on the list?

Adam Petty "quit" as he could not advance any further after wheeling his
repaired car back out on track -- instead of getting in the way.

Randy Lajoie gave Dale Jr. all he could handle in the closing laps, but
the eventual 1999 champion grabbed another victory in St. Louis.

Casey Atwood and Jeff Green paced the field early, but Junior had the
best car in the field as he weaved through traffic on his way to the front.

This was a pretty uneventful race compared to other Busch races in 1999.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s win propelled him back into the points lead over
Matt Kenseth. Kenseth had breifly assumed the lead after Little E's
wreck at Pikes Peak but Junior would not relinquish the top spot again
after this on the way to his successful title defense.

Last Busch Series race to date (maybe ever) with no Californians. Also
the last national NASCAR race with none from the Golden State.

both the 44 and 43 were in the last caution too. you clearly see them
both spinning. it got re-uploaded on a new Youtube channel which has
been playing 90's races. And I'm a 90's baby so I should be happy about
that started doing that during the pandemic break.

Eli Gold and Buddy Baker were the commentators. Glenn Jarrett and Larry
McReynolds were the pit road reporters.

If you watched the race on one of the youtube channels you actually can
hear Eli Gold on accident drop an S bomb, someone forgot a 5 second
delay or 7 second delay for that but it wasn't heard on tv.
