Otherwise, he would have probably won. Still, it was nice to see Front Row Joe pull this one off. This was the first Busch race televised by NBC. 3. Barrett qualified well but got the Miccosukee logo on TV for all the wrong reasons when he lost it and set off the Big One on the opening lap; putting the #61 Grand Prix on the sidelines after completing less than a lap. 18. RaceFanX posted: 03.03.2021 - 1:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jeff Green's top-5 here saw him complete off a remarkable season-long comeback as he bounces back from failing to qualify at Rockingham in the spring, due to qualifying being rained out, to finish second in points to Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Green won three times in 1999 and his consistency saw him sit third in the points for most of the year. He poached second place in the final standings here at the final race from Junior's title rival Matt Kenseth after Kenseth was collected in the Big One on the opening lap, finishing well down the running order after an extended stay behind the wall for repairs. Ironically the DNQ had no impact on Green's point standings in the end; "Little E" won the title by such a margin that even if Green had won at Rockingham with max points he would have lost the title by 90 points. A strong 1999 season was a sign of things to come for Green. With Earnhardt, Jr. and Kenseth both moving up to Cup full-time for 2000 the door was open for Green to take command in the second level series...and oh boy did he that year... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
