However CBS/TNN already packed up for the evening and there is no tv coverage on record for this race. It included a spectacular turn 2 accident with Mike Dillon's car going up in flames. 2. But the worst part is that Mike Joy said just as the CBS broadcast ended at 3pm central that the Albertson's 300 would be seen live on TNN whenever it got started. Then, at 5pm central on TNN, we get a crawl on the bottom of the screen saying "Due to continuing delays, there will be no broadcast coverage of the NASCAR Busch Series Albertson's 300 from Texas Motor Speedway." I guess they didn't want to interrupt "Fievel Goes West", or "The Rescuers", or whatever cartoon movie that was playing on TNN at the time. 3. In the other 4 starts, he had 3 top-10s, including his first (and so far, only) NASCAR victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway. 6. Amongst the drivers also interviewed during the delay was Michael Waltrip who failed to qualify for this race and expressed some joy they were rerunning the race from Daytona because of his violent flip in that race which meant his sponsor Band-Aid would still get some exposure for the day. 7. awesomebillfan9 posted: 04.14.2013 - 2:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Michael Waltrip worried about sponsorship exposure? Seriously? Are you talking about the right Michael Waltrip? 8. I have a vague recollection of being relieved he hadn't been hurt back then and was eagerly anticipating his Winston Cup debut the following day. The memory sticks out though, as almost any thought I've ever had about the 2000 Busch Series season has been colored by darkness and profound loss - of Adam, of Kenny Irwin, of Tony Roper and Blaise Alexander and Christian Lovendahl and the handful of others who have passed in the 18 years since. That April afternoon may have been the only time I ever looked back at a field of those young drivers without the weight of tragedy, just the curiosity and promise that comes with loving the sport and watching its future start to take shape before my eyes. (Incidentally - Lovendahl was not a driver but the 27-year-old crew chief of the #19 Ridling Motorsports entry, as well as the nephew of Mark Martin. He was killed in a traffic accident returning home from the Richmond race in May, seven days before Adam Petty's fatal crash.) 11. This race was part of Martin's intended farewell tour from Busch series racing, he retired from the series at the end of 2000 and didn't return until 2005. While he ran five more Busch/Nationwide races at Texas in the mid-2000s this still remained his last victory at the Fort Worth tri-oval. 13. Since this race the worst would be the 2019 trucks race at martinsville where they didn't show the finish to go to college football. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
