A normal person wouldn't do this. Then again, drivers aren't normal people. 3. Hopefully this doesn't sound tasteless in the fact that Adam died that weekend, but towards the end of the race, Dick Trickle crashed and his car caught fire, yet he still drove it for a few feet. That, ladies and gentleman, is TALENT. 4. HomeDepot20TS posted: 04.17.2006 - 11:49 am Rate this comment: (3) (0) Fedewa snookered Jeff Green, probably to the delight of most, en route to winning the race. It was pretty surreal watching even the last 20 laps after I'd initially planned to watch none of it. When the race for the win heated up though, the thoughts of what'd taken place the day before left for a minute, like it always does. A good example being this year's IRL race in Homestead. As for Dick Trickle and talent, the only reason Dick didn't have a Winston Cup win (and many more) is the cars he drove. He never had an opprotunity to drive for a well rounded team, instead settling for Cale Yarborough's #66 Phillips 66 Pontiac and Junie Donlavey's #90 Helig-Meyers Ford, among other cars of similar or worse performance. And quit making fun of his name dammit! 5. Darrell posted: 04.20.2006 - 7:28 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Agreed. Trickle always seemed to get the best of those cars(although Donlavey's team was never the same after that Big Daddy's fiasco) 6. Darrell posted: 12.03.2006 - 4:34 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Another eerie thought: DNQ: Ricky Hendrick (#24), Tony Roper (#50), Wayne Grubb (#83), Ashton Lewis (#46), Andy Kirby (#39), Adam Petty (#45) Of those drivers who DNQ'd, only Grubb and Lewis are still alive. The others were killed in racing/transportation accidents. 9. SK posted: 03.09.2007 - 12:09 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Wow, I did not know that about the DNQ list...that is certainly eerie. 10. brandon posted: 01.17.2008 - 12:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) you can't really count petty as a dnq his car was withdrew after his crash 11. Haywood posted: 08.02.2008 - 1:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) There's a weird error with this race. if you click on adam petty's 2000 busch series results, it says he DNQ'ed for this race but it is labeled as Charlotte not Loudon. 12. webmaster posted: 08.02.2008 - 7:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) That error should be fixed now - thanks for catching it. 13. anymous posted: 12.10.2012 - 4:11 pm Rate this comment: (1) (3) Grubb killed himself in a Vrginia motel room in 2009, This just leaves Ashton Lewis alive ;-( 14. Check your facts about people before you post about them, too! 16. He barreled into both Lyndon Amick and Jason Jarrett in separate incidents, causing each driver to crash out of the race and make their displeasure known on the racetrack -- Amick crouched down and pointed to his head as Borkowski drove by, while Jarrett hurled his driving gloves at the #20. Mike was fired outright less than a week later and actually sued by sponsor AT&T for tarnishing their reputation, specifically citing the two incidents above. 18. sk posted: 01.24.2014 - 10:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sorry, not driving gloves, the heat shields from his shoes. 19. b4il3y posted: 02.04.2014 - 3:34 am Rate this comment: (1) (2) If AT@T did that... that's a bogus move. Wrecks happen. If they would've actually won that suit, no team would have sponsors ever. They would be too afraid to sponsor anyone for fear of suit. 20. 23andJoe posted: 04.02.2014 - 8:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #19 crew chief: George Church (same through race No. 27 at Dover) 21. b4il3y posted: 08.31.2014 - 3:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 4. I hardly remember this race. In fact I don't even remember how I found out Adam died.. I wanna say a local country station broke in while my mom was driving me home from school that Friday afternoon. The next day was just a cold miserable spring day here in new england. And just an overwhelming sense of discomfort. Decent race from what I recall, lotta wrecks, but that finish.. wow. Still remember tugging my dads sleeve, pointing and shouting as Fedewa dove under j. green into 1 on the last restart. Wish I could recount more. Off to find it on youtube! 24. It's a shame he is gone because he had so much potential. 26. That DNQ/withdraw list: Andy Kirby - died in motorcycle crash in 2002 Tony Roper - died in Truck Series crash in Oct. 2000 Ricky Hendrick - died in plane crash in 2004 Adam Petty - died night before in practice. Then you get to the racers who made the race. Blaise Alexander - died in racing accident in 2001 Jason Leffler - died in racing accident in 2013 Ted Christopher - died in plane crash in 2017 Dick Trickle - suicide in 2013 Kevin Grubb - suicide in 2009 That's nine out of 49 drivers who are no longer with us 20 years later. Absolutely tragic and mindboggling. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
