Haywood posted: 07.26.2008 - 2:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) this was a great race. i missed the first 20-30 laps in traffic coming over after the iroc race. even though i love iroc, i was glad they moved the race from the brickyard because it made the commute from the speedway to irp that much tougher. plus, the iroc race at indy just wasn't very exciting. the weird thing about this race was... i remember thinking to myself "ron is going to win the BGN championship next year" after the win. he had great equipment and had a good run in 2000. if he stayed with DEI i thought it was his title to lose. sadly, even after this win DEI had pretty much planned on releasing hornaday at the season's end. i can't remember the reasoning, but i do recall reading in a forum somewhere that dale & ron had some bad blood of some sort, and that ron was on his way out with the organization. too bad because i really liked ron and thought the two were a great fit for the busch series. 5. I believe that DEI ended up selling the cars and equipment off to AJ Foyt. 6. All three of these strong runs came in standalone events and he finished runner-up behind Busch regulars each time. 10.
