I'll bet you laughed your you-know-what off all those times Rusty Wallace went flipping wildly at Daytona and Talladega. Besides, didn't Junior flip over in his first Daytona race? This was Travis' only Busch race until 2005, when he ran at Watkins Glen. Phil Parsons came back for a one-off deal (34th) as a teammate to first-time polesitter Jay Sauter (Thomas, do you have proof that Jay is a bastard, as you said?). Dick Trickle ran his last Busch race (38th). 2-time Truck Champ Ron Hornaday Jr's son Ronnie Hornaday (also known as Ron Hornaday III) started his lone Busch race (37th). 5. biffle16 posted: 01.07.2007 - 2:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) You are correct, Steve. I have nothing against Junior, but he did flip over in his first start at Daytona. 6. I think the team owner actually was suspended from NASCAR for one year and thus withdrew from BGN, as they did start entering Trucks at Martinsville the next year. 11. Harvick was pulling double-duty between Kentucky and Pocono. Bliss actually crashed the car during the session, and the team worked feverishly to get the back-up car prepared for qualifying. Harvick qualified 11th and went on to win the race. 25. Cars which failed to qualify were scored as finishing 44th, 45th, etc for points (based on qualifying time if there was one, and, I think, entry date if not). 27. The resulting penalty looked to be ruinous enough for Xpress Motorsports that they fully shut down their Busch team as a result, rather than pay up, although they would ultimately return to the Truck series and win a pair of championships over there. nascarman wrote a great blog entry on this website telling the story of this penalty. https://www.racing-reference.info/showblog?id=3378 29. Post 26 is wrong in that WDs do not receive owner's points if the entry blank is filled on time--see Mike Wallace's WD at Lowe's in October. Their qualifying order should be the same as my suggestion in post 25. I don't know why none of them attempted a lap (in addition to the 8). 31. They are correctly listed as WD's. 33. After Harvick indeed did demolish the field to get the win the #2 ACDelco Chevrolet Monte Carlo he drove in this race, the same one he won his first Busch race with a year earlier, was nicknamed by him and the team as "The Punisher." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
