There is a video of this on youtube.com, the "Jimmy" the announcers are referring to is Johnson. 2. After Busch North and BGN combination races stopped the field sizes for both this race and Nazareth took a tumble, having only 25-30 non-field filler cars regularly. The timing of the Watkins Glen race certainly hampered it, as Cup teams were in Daytona (in fact, this race was the day after Junior's famous win). The only Cup driver in this race was Harvick, and we all know there's only one reason why he was a Cup driver in '01 to begin with. On top of that, this weekend seemed to struggle for the Glen. They dropped the Truck race that tended to be a double-header in favor of an ARCA race that was a bit of a shitshow. The economy tanking after 9/11 and the prospect of a Cup/BGN double-header on Independence Day weekend at Daytona didn't help either. I'm guessing other weekends weren't open/not profitable, and Cup already ran with Busch North through 2004 in addition to Grand-Am. 2005 opened up the opportunity for a Cup/BGN/Grand-Am triple-header. 19. They also had no provisionals posting times for Atlanta for some reason but it's more likely none of these three posted times considering they're all field fillers. On another note, bgnracing says that qualifying was "Grand Am style." I couldn't find anything on that, can anyone elaborate on what that means? I doubt it's just one lap qualifying like Cup does considering a few cars posted much better times in qualifying than practice (notably Drew White and Shane Hall). 20. Said turned in a good run as he brought the blue Monte Carlo home with a top-5 during this one-off. This was Said's third career Busch race but the first time he finished better than 30th. It would be his only start of the season. 22. 48johnsonfan posted: 10.16.2020 - 9:51 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) After about 2 1/2 - 3 years, this race is finally back on YouTube!
