Even if he wasn't, he would need to be in a car owned by Childress, Roush, Hendrick, or Gibbs to win another race, now that the Busch Series has become dominated with Cup drivers and teams. 5. Seriously, Kenny Wallace could have been a great one if he ever got the right equipment and focused on being a racecar driver first over being a Media Personality. Had he stayed in the 1 car he would have been a prolific winner, he's always been a good substitute driver and got that job moniker quickly and that problem has prevented Kenny from being a solid competitor. -Kevin Harvick clinches the title at the very place he started his Winston Cup career as an emergency replacement for Dale Earnhardt. He was the first driver to win the championship while competing on the Cup level and finish in the top 10 in points on both levels. Before then, it was conisidered by many to be impossible now the impossible is commonplace with longtime Cup teams running the series. -Ryan Newman wins another pole as he would clinch the Busch Series pole award and he would win more of those in the Cup Series. 11. This was still a time period where a Cup ride didn't have as much influence in what ride you could run in the Busch Series. 17. Once the team got word after the race that Kevin Harvick clinched the title with his fifth-place run, thanks to Jeff Green's late race issues, "Happy Harvick" celebrated with a monster burnout on the front stretch that absolutely shredded the rear tires of the #2 AC Delco Chevrolet. After the race RCR immediately retired the car Harvick drove in this race and preserved it in the team museum in the exact condition it came off the track; more than two decades later it is still sitting in the museum with the nose pointed skyward because of the two flat rear tires. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
