Crashed by Greg Biffle, Harvick decided to have a few "choice" words with Biffle. The incident allowed Mike McLaughlin to have one last shot at Green. Scott Riggs also took his first career pole. Greg Biffle took the points lead for the first time in 2002 3. Fortunately, he was OK. (You can see a photo of the wreck at hit-the-wall.com) 4. He is the most mat- ure and underappreciated driver in the garage. Harvick does not show any respect to anyone. Way to go Greg! 9. Steve posted: 09.16.2006 - 10:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) So respect does not include locking up your own brakes to avoid running over someone for the lead? That's what Harvick did for Kyle Busch Saturday night at Richmond. Yes, I'll admit Biffle has matured a little bit, but I don't have to like him, just as you don't have to like Kevin Harvick. Positive things came out of this race for some of the underdogs: Butch Miller (15th), Derrike Cope (21st), and independant Brian Weber (25th) all scored their best finishes of 2002. Brian Weber's 25th place finish was the best of his career, and he would finish 25th two more times; two months later at Nazareth, and a year after that in St. Louis. Brian Vickers finished on the lead lap for the first time (finishing 14th). 10. biffle16 posted: 10.21.2006 - 3:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Truce, Steve? 11. biffle16 posted: 11.18.2006 - 4:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) And besides that, it was Harvick's fault because he checked up. 12. biffle16 posted: 11.23.2006 - 5:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) So respect includes jumping all over somebody's car because he gets wrecked? 13. It became a running gag among the announcers to see if he was involved in this crash. At least racing was a hobby for him and he had his everyday job of being an executive at Greased Lightning to fall back on. 15. 29PennzoilChevy09 posted: 11.21.2008 - 1:36 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Butch Miller's last decent finish in any series. It's hard to believe that this is the same guy who tore up any short track he was on in the 70's and 80's. 16. Steve posted: 11.23.2008 - 12:58 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Butch was the man in ASA. His performance in the later years wasn't so great, but he was able to win every now and then. He was strong in the trucks, and was decent in Busch (besides the short tracks, he had 3 Top 10s) and Cup, and could have been better if he had a better car. Where is ol' Butch now? 17. Boy was I wrong. 18. nascarman posted: 04.02.2010 - 10:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This had a great finish that was overshadowed by Harvick and Biffle. On the last lap Mark Green spun and was hit in the drivers door. Jeff Green and Jimmy Spencer came up on the wreck in turn 2 nose to tail. Cars were slowing down on the track so the two drove onto the apron. They merged onto the track halfway down the backstrech behind the lapped car of Jack Sprague. Green went to the outside of Sprague and Spencer was stuck behind Sprague and the bottom. Spencer with nowhere to go drove down on the apron in turn 4. Sliding back onto the track he clipped Sprague and turned him into the inside wall. In the process of spinning Sprague, Spencer lost 2 positions to McLaughlin and Wimmer just yards from the checkered flag. 19. Fortunately for him, he managed to stay on the lead lap and a caution for another spin came out just a few laps later. Grubb was able to come away with a 12th place finish in the end, but he ran a lot better than the results sheet might suggest. Final Busch Series race for Ken Alexander, who had an embarrassing performance on the race track, being involved in about half of the cautions in this race. Even the announcers took notice and began making jokes about him, saying things like "Guess who was involved in this caution?", among other potshots at Alexander's expense. He would turn the keys over to Shane Hall after this race. Kasey Kahne also put on an embarrassing performance in this race, but he managed to recover from this bad race and has gone on to become one of the best drivers currently racing in the Sprint Cup Series. 22. Chives5150 posted: 08.13.2014 - 10:13 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ah, yes, this race was a bit of an instant classic! This race tied the Busch Series record at Bristol for the most cautions at 14, which at the time were set by the Spring 1990 and Summer 1993 races. This was Ken Alexander's last ever Busch Series race, as he was involved in 6 accidents throughout the event. Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds said multiple times throughout the broadcast that Alexander should get off the track. Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle clashed once again on track, after Biffle got on the gas while Harvick did not, sending Harvick hard into the outside turn 4 wall. Harvick waited for Biffle and after the race, and famously jumped over and off of Biffle's car to confront him. Brian Vickers, in only his 8th Busch Series start, decided to miss his senior prom to race, and ended up finishing a respectable 14th after being involved in a wreck with Hank Parker, Jr. and smacking the wall at least 2 other times. Jack Sprague was pissed at Jimmy Spencer, who spun him out trying to take the checkered flag. He jumped up onto the inside front stretch wall and tried to get Jimmy's attention. Finally, Spencer commented on lap traffic, calling it "pitiful". 23. We need more Onion posted: 09.23.2014 - 9:51 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) #14 and #38 should read crash, instead of running. Sarf52 posted: 03.21.2015 - 3:20 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Just finished watching this one on YouTube. MAN what a wreckfest! Ken Alexander was involved in 7 cautions total, I believe, and it can't be overstated how much of a hazard he was on the track. A "rolling chicane" as some would put it. Spencer was dogging Jeff Green every lap off the final restart, and was closing fast as they raced to the line, but a number of slow lapped cars prevented Spencer from getting any position on the track itself. In a desperation move, Spencer dove to the apron, which proved to be a bad idea as he was passed by McLaughlin and Wimmer and also ended up turning an innocent Mark Green at the stripe. Derrike Cope's car was a strange slime green and pink for this race. Hard to miss on the track. 25. joey2448 posted: 03.21.2016 - 11:56 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) "Mike Harmon was involved in a crash during practice in this race very similar to Ryan Newman's in the 2003 Daytona 500. School kids make those and send them places to have their picture taken in exciting locations. IIRC it belonged to a child of a crew member. The crew secured it to the dashboard of the #60 Grainger Ford right in front of Biffle's on-board camera. 31.
