Jack Sprague, the pole sitter, built up his point lead. A first lap crash by Christian Elder, forces his dismissal from Akins 2. Only DNQ for this race: (at the time) 57-year-old Jack Sellers, a longtime competitor in the Winston West Division. 4. (Some might have been taken down since I watched them though) Stuart and Andy Kirby spun in the exact same place in the exact same manner, with a driver lapping them touching their left rear. From the static camera, even the sound of the car skidding was the same. 12. The hit here at Fontana arguably left him worse for the wear than the Talladega tumble did. 5 years later, David Reutimann had a similar crash at Fontana in a Cup race, with the accidents looking like mirror images of each other, right down to the in-car cameras showing the drivers momentarily stunned & breathless after impact with the outside wall. Reutimann was at least somewhat cushioned by the SAFER barrier - meanwhile Sauter was stuck eating cold hard concrete. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
