After spinning off turn 2, Purvis's car was t-boned by Greg Biffle, leaving Purvis out til 2004, exactly 2 years later 2. If Biffle wouldn't have swerved at the last minute like he did, Jeff Purvis would probably be dead today. 4. The 87 was a backup of the 7, it was painted up just like it minus the associate sponsor. 11. Not only did Purvis almost die (and career ended), but Biffle was concussed and knocked cold for minutes. Biff didn't miss any time though and in his next 10 races, notched 4 wins and a 2.3 average finish. 15. Green-flag pit stops were occurring with Riggs pitting from the lead when the wreck occurred and LaJoie was being bounced around in scoring from a lap down to having lapped the field and everywhere in between. 17. The impact by Biffle on Jeff Purvis was brutal, and it literally knocked the roof of Biffle's car sideways. Also, the shape of the track played a roll in the wreck, as Greg could not get around Purvis's car. 19. KyleBrown posted: 01.02.2020 - 5:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Update on prior post--the #34 was practiced by Mike Johnson in both post-qualifying sessions which is why it went to the rear and should be a DC--according to bgnracing.com archives, and Daniel Johnson was listed as starting 43rd on the broadcast signifying his starting from the rear 20. rm posted: 02.23.2020 - 3:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) There could be some pretty nasty hits at Nazareth owing to the unique angles of the walls and the narrow groove, and this race had a few of them. Unfortunately, though, the big crash with Jeff Purvis could have happened at any track. With a short field, a few teams brought extra cars to start and park or go the distance when they normally would park (or DNQ). There were several incidents involving the slower cars causing accidents with faster cars, or crashing with other slow cars, and the series regulars that tangled with the lapped cars were not happy with the backmarkers. 24 crew chief - Dennis Connor ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
