He had a host of drivers with 43 Busch wins combined chasing him: Joe Nemechek, Jeff Burton, and Todd Bodine. 4. Before his death at the age of 38 on August 12th, he apparently had retired from racing and was employed as a project manager for a contracting company in Charlotte. Also, this was the first of two major NASCAR starts made by ARCA veteran Dan Shaver, who also passed away before his time in 2007. May both men rest in peace. 7. Vickers dove to the inside of Kenny Wallace in turn 1, attempting to make the pass on the apron, forcing Wallace up the track and into a spin. The best part of the incident may have been that it took place mere moments after the TNT booth reminded the viewers that unlike the previous week at Daytona, the yellow/white line isn't out of bounds at Chicagoland. They were referring to the practice of drivers running all the way down to the edge of the grass coming through the trioval, not an unusual occurrence at Chicagoland and significantly less dangerous than leaving the banking in the turns. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
