A while later they fired the cars while it was still raining and drove across the start/finish line so they could make the halfway mark and call the race. 3. It rained pretty much all weekend at Darlington that year. 4. joey2448 posted: 05.04.2011 - 4:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) http://nationwide.nascar.com/nationwide-series/news/110504/nationwide-spotlight-darlington-jburton-202/ 5. awesomebillfan9 posted: 03.27.2013 - 12:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 7th consecutive Busch Series win at Darlington for Ford. 6. Regardless, that's cruel. 11. 88&4Fan posted: 01.07.2016 - 6:43 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Shortest distance (in terms of % of scheduled distance actually ran) in NASCAR history? 12. This was pre-light/pre-titan days and NASCAR did purposefully stop the cars before they crossed the line to complete the 74 lap. Although I think Jeff Burton alluded to the fact that since the race had an odd number of laps then they had already occurred somewhere on the backstretch. 16.
