He struggled in the 80s and early 90s before losing his ride with A.G. Dillard but he got a break from Robert Sutton, whom Sawyer repaid with a win at Myrtle Beach. He drove for Brad Akins (whom Kasey Kahne would later win for) for his final few seasons of Busch racing with one more win, at Loudon. Ironic that his best Busch season was also his last (2001). It's a shame he coudn't get another ride. He is now a driver consultant at Red Bull Racing, which is what Robert Pressley does at JTG/Wood Brothers Racing. 4. biffle16 posted: 05.15.2007 - 3:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Awesome season, Greg!!! 5. BTW Addington was interviewed and said "We are short by almost a lap, but we have nothing to lose, we're going for the win!" Seeing that they were locked into 2nd place in the standings, this is how you go out there. Also short on fuel according to the computers, #36 of Hank Parker made it to 2nd place, Wimmer overtook him on Lap 199. On the other hand, Bootie Barker got what was the winning strategy, not tires, just a splash and go. I still think he is the most underrated CC in NASCAR. Rain started falling again within 5 minutes of the finish. 15. DaltonFallen posted: 08.18.2019 - 10:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Who wins the title under current playoff format? Haven't done the math, but seems like it's Wimmer, assuming he did good enough in what would be the first two "rounds." If Keller was in the final 4 as well, then that fuel gamble cost him the title! 16.
