Steve posted: 12.03.2006 - 1:14 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) You're right about the TNT coverage. It sucked a cagefull of chimp! Larry Hollenbeck did not retire due to an accident. He was a lap down and he probably made a misjudgement as he got in line behind Mike Bliss, who at the time was in or near the lead pack. Bliss went spinning into the inside wall, and was understandably upset with Hollenbeck. NA$CAR parked the #62 for the rest of the race. 9. Junior pulled the unthinkable in NASCAR and went undefeated in the Busch Series in 2003, winning all three of his starts. He won five in a row over three seasons. 12. RaceFanX posted: 03.16.2008 - 12:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) First Busch race without Randy LaJoie in the field since the first race at Homestead in 1995. LaJoie was removed from his ride earilier in the week and replaced by Cup driver Greg Biffle. On the night before his first Cup victory, Biffle brought the #7 Kleenex Pontiac home 23rd one lap behind. This was the last race for Herzog Motorsports and their #92 Chevy. The team was having a great season, sitting 4th in points, with driver Todd Bodine even winning at Darlington in amazing fashion but the team never really found a strong sponsor after the Excedrin left before the 03 season. Herzog also gave Jimmie Johnson his big break (and only Busch win to date) in NASCAR. 13. He won all 3 races he ran. Oh and by the way, he swept all Daytona races in 2003 in the Busch Series ( Nationwide ). 16. Even I understand that he meant to say - Dale Jr. isn't the first one who led all laps in NASCAR. And I'm not neither from USA, nor UK or some other country that has english as a main language. My language is totally different and much difficult apart from english. 24. He stated that the team really wants to make it to Chicago, but if nobody comes on board, they won't be able to pay people. Despite the #92 Herzog-Jackson car scoring another top 10 and leaving Daytona 4th in points, a mere 43 behind championship leader Riggs, nobody showed up and the team had to shut down immediately. Obviously, I'm a bit biased as a fan of Todd Bodine, but it's unfathomable how nobody was willing to get behind a title contender, while trash like the #26 Carroll Racing car or terrible drivers like Kerry Earnhardt had stable, full-time funding. 28. Maverick19 posted: 04.22.2020 - 11:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Allen Bestwick began calling Earnhardt Jr's run to the checkers in the middle of turn 4, that kinda shows how untouchable he was in this race 29. rm posted: 05.08.2020 - 8:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 99 crew chief - Bobby Kennedy The run-in between Bliss and Hollenbeck began on the exit of turn 4 and didn't stop until Bliss backed it into the inside pit wall a handful of stalls from the pit entrance. Upon climbing from his car, Bliss immediately found a Busch Series official to voice his displeasure and shock about the wreck. Hollenbeck was already a few laps down after hitting the wall earlier in the race in an accident that didn't bring out a caution. It would not be Hollenbeck's last crash at Daytona, he gained infamy for his involvement in a wreck in the ARCA race at Daytona in 2009 in which Patrick Sheltra broke his back after being t-boned by Hollenbeck. Thanks to a 2-month gap between races, Sheltra ran in the next race - and won! - while Hollenbeck crashed out of his final start later in the season at Michigan. Hollenbeck, now 71, hasn't attempted a race since the summer of 2009. 30. TeamDCRfan posted: 05.08.2020 - 8:12 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) You can't blame a guy for trying, but lordy was Larry bad. Just slow enough to be in the way, but just fast enough to be dangerous. That ought to sum it up. 32.
