@Darrell: David Stremme was deadlocked with Coy Gibbs in the Rookie of
the Year battle, but Jamie McMurray wanted to drive the #1 that he won
with in February (you can see how that worked for him). So Todd Braun
put this ride together for David, and he ended up performing quite
admirably.

I remember that Scott Riggs blew a tire late in the race and hit the
wall, which cost him the points lead he had with two races to go in the
season. Very unfortunate for him, and it only got worse, as Riggs still
had a shot going into the final race of the year at Homestead-Miami, but
was wrecked on the first lap by Jon Wood in that race.

they collided in turn 1 during white flag lap.

Stremme was having a great run and probably would have challenged
McMurray for the win, but he screwed up and slid through his pit box on
the final pit stop.

Also, Casey Mears could have challenged McMurray too, but he had to pit
from 2nd spot late in the race for a flat tire.

Apparently Derrike Cope had a sponsor lined up for Angela and/or Amber
Cope to run this race but couldn't get a car pulled together in time to
run. The rest of the field thanks him for that misfortune - though I'm
not sure either of them would have been approved by NASCAR to compete
here, much less time into the show with 50+ entrants.
