I'd never been a big Joe Nemechek fan, but this is when he really began
to start slipping in my favorite drivers list.

I can understand being upset over having your car (and a car you own)
destroyed in a wreck 11 laps into the race, but Joe gets on national TV
and acts like Mike Bliss got loose under Leffler with the sole intention
of taking Nemechek out. Dallenbach, Benson, Kahne, and Menard didn't act
stupid and Bliss was apologetic, but about all I can remember from that
Saturday part (Besides the rain and that crash) was Nemechek's typical
bullheaded interview.

I'm sure some people wondered if Dale Earnhardt, Jr. would be back the
next day for the Busch race considering he just won his biggest race,
his party reputation and the same reputation for sleeping in (I think
the race restarted at 10 or 11 AM). Obviously that was a tounge-in-cheek
comment, I don't question his commitment, but that would be a whirlwind
of activity.

As for his new Busch driver Martin Truex, Jr., this was his first pole
and he drove the #81 car, as Dale Jr. had the #8. Truex would switch to
the #8 for the rest of the year.

Paul Wolfe wrecked every lap until he actually wrecked. With that hungry
drivers program, can't fault him for going out there and driving the
hell out of it!

Dale Earnhardt Jr's fifth consecutive win in five starts. Previously he
had won the 2002 fall Richmond race, all three superspeedway races in
2003 and then this one.

Jr came so close to sweeping speedweeks that year. He finished 2nd in
the bud shootout then won the Gatorade duel, the 500, and this Busch
race. Nobody's better than him at Daytona and Talladega and I mean nobody.

After winning the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. comes back
on Monday to finish the Busch Series race and sweep the Busch and Cup
weekend at Daytona.

Martin's Ford broke on its qualifying run, he said there was no power
from the engine going to the wheels.

This race made it only 31 laps Saturday before the rains came and pushed
it back.

Allen Bestwick, Benny Parsons and Dale Jarrett were the commentators on
Saturday. Wally Dallenbach would be in the booth on Monday. The pit road
reporters consisted of Matt Yocum, Marty Snider and Dave Burns.

webmaster the link to this race and the race after this in the 2004 NBS
season aren't working correctly from the 2004 NBS season page. I'm sure
there are plenty more like this but these are just the two I've found
