I dunno what Hornaday thought when he wrecked Truex Jr. just 3 laps in. Thankfully they got the car repaired and were able to finish 30th. THAT'S WHAT WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!! (AND THANKFULLY KYLE BUSCH WRECKED TOO) 3. HomeDepotKid posted: 11.28.2004 - 8:39 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The Nemechek/Stewart incident looked blatant from my perspective. However, it was just a racing incident. In my mind, they were racing for the win late in the race, and at least it was LATE in the race and not lap 1. I'm a Tony fan, but Nemechek was just racing hard. 4. Driver 8 posted: 01.14.2005 - 5:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (6) I was there. Truex Jr. had one of the best cars on the track from what he and Bono said, but that colossal prick Hornaday wrecked him 4 laps in! I thought the day was over until, by a miraculous and ironic twist of fate, Baby Busch crashes in the same turn and we only lose 3 points! Tony had the best car out there, and would have won had the last caution not came out and the race went green-white-checkered. Joe didnt spin him on purpose, it was just a racing incident, but still it would have been nice to see Tony get that elusive first Busch win. Would have been better to see him and Martin Jr. battle it out for the win! Maybe next year. 5. It was plainly obvious. 6. Miller4Prez64 posted: 04.30.2006 - 9:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Wally ended up finishing 10th, good for him. Joe Nemechek wins the sweep at Kansas 7. After several contentious days and several threats from lawyers on both sides of the disagreement, Feese was officially named the driver for the remainder of 2004, despite Leffler being a distant 3rd in the championship standings entering this event. Feese immediately proved his worth by being involved in the opening caution of the race, spinning out on lap 3. During the big wreck on lap 81, Feese gunned it through the accident scene and narrowly missed spinning and slowing cars all around him. TNT aired audio & the in-car camera feed from Martin Truex Jr.'s wounded car as Truex tried to steer his damaged car through the incident. The audio turned out to be half focused on the spotter trying to coach Truex through the wreck and half focused on the spotter questioning what was going through Blake Feese's mind when he roared through the crash. David Green and the Brewco team entered this race as the defending winners and brought back the same car as the year before. The team rebodied the car to a Chevrolet instead of a Pontiac, but the car barely made it to halfway before Green lost power and stalled on the track with terminal engine issues. The TNT crew called down to Tony Stewart under a late caution to talk to him. Tony said he had a great shot to win the race, now that he'd gotten away from Mike Bliss, who Tony said was being "a hammerhead." 17. Stewart was coming up on Bliss, and Bliss waved him to pass on the inside, a wave that Stewart apparently missed. When Bliss held his high line, Stewart angrily popped him. That angered Bliss, who popped him back. The two traded a few more bumps and obscene gestures before the race resumed. After the race, Stewart waited in Bliss' trailer to talk with him. The exchange became heated, and Stewart punched Bliss, wrestled him to the floor of the trailer and threw at least three more punches, according to witnesses.
