The win was Green's first since 2003. Aaron Fike (8th) and Brandon Miller (10th) picked up their first career top 10 finishes. Kevin Hamlin had an impressive Busch Series debut in which he lead five laps in the late stages of the race and finished 17th in the Biagi Brothers Dodge. 2. Two guys who were subbing for the Buschwhackers, and they wind up in the top ten! Heck, even Casey Atwood had a good qualifying run in a car Kahne normally drives. If you ask me, the Buschwhackers are the worst thing to happen to this sport since Team Tabasco. Now Carl Edwards will probably win Rookie of the Year over Reed Sorenson, despite the fact that Sorenson is a TRUE Busch Series competitor. :( 6. That was his owner's decision. biffle16 and Miller4Prez, please get your facts right before you go shooting your mouth off. 10. mcmurrayfan posted: 04.17.2007 - 12:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) It's a shame NASCAR got rid of tracks like this. If they would run the Busch cars at more Non-Cup tracks it would keep most of the Buschwackers out. They could put the Trucks in more companion events so the Busch races wouldn't be just Nextel Cup practice in Busch cars with a few non-Cup drivers. I think the Truck Series could use more races (there's only 25 races) anyway. 11. J.P.M 42 posted: 06.13.2007 - 8:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kevin Hamlin's first Busch Series start. 12. Probably another one of those field fillers. 15. brandon posted: 08.03.2008 - 8:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dale Quarterley is listed as DNF in the same car? Kenny Wallace actually was the fastest at the end, but a bad pit stop on the last caution put him back too far. @brandon: If you look, Dale Quarterley is listed with different car numbers on the results and the DNQ list. MacDonald Motorsports brought two cars, the 71 and the 72. Since the 72 DNQed, they put Quarterley in the car that made the show. 19. Ryan posted: 05.21.2016 - 6:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) The last race at Pikes Peak, a remote track that wasn't known for great racing and featured many backup cars entered just to fill the field size. It's funny how someone said they should run more standalone events to reduce the amount of Cup drivers running - at Pikes Peak, nobody wanted to run besides the full time Busch teams, often resulting in large amounts of DNFs in the early laps from field filling teams. 23. Alex posted: 09.26.2016 - 6:36 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Yet at stages Bowyer, Wallace, Green, Yeley, Truex, and Elliott were passing like it was Talladega. This was easily the best race run here by any series. 24. JSPorts posted: 09.26.2016 - 6:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Never got to see a race at this track. Wish I could've. Wish we could go back to the days where standalone tracks would be plenty in the lower series (like Pikes Peak). Back when there were more cars (43) and more sponsors for young drivers. Back when NXS drivers could compete with the Cup guys, even if they weren't driving for Cup teams (Brewer, for example). And back when there were more than 8 competitive cars in a race, and a lot of them were driven by Busch drivers. 25. FrontRowMotorsportsFan posted: 09.26.2016 - 6:57 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @23 - 2005 race only had from what I see, only two S&P's. 2003 & 2004 I would have to agree that's quite a bit of parks. I'd like to see NASCAR build a Denver area track that's in similar to Rockingham. There was supposed to build a "Denver Motorplex" track, but haven't seen anything on it so I assume the project is dead. 26. JSPorts posted: 09.26.2016 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The lifeblood of this series was that they ran different tracks and had some older, some younger drivers and different teams. Nowadays, it's low-horsepower cup cars with cup drivers, cup tracks, cup teams, cup sponsors and cup pit crews. This series now has no identity. 27. FrontRowMotorsportsFan posted: 09.26.2016 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Attendance: 46,000 for the final two years at the track. That's solid for a standalone. 28. Though the plus is that they're young talents, at least. 30. FrontRowMotorsportsFan posted: 09.26.2016 - 7:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can't really say there's many teams out there that aren't affiliated with the big teams that really run well. Ryan Sieg, Jeremy Clements, Ross Chastain, Tyler Young, and Jordan Anderson (in some races) have done decent at times. 31. Sean posted: 09.26.2016 - 9:44 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) "Wish we could go back to the days where standalone tracks would be plenty in the lower series (like Pikes Peak)." That's why I found last weekend's race, which was called the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300, to be so insulting because all it did was remind me of the Myrtle Beach short track that the Busch Series used to race on that was much more interesting than Kentucky... 32. Paul posted: 03.17.2017 - 1:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hank Parker, Jr. qualified the No. 60 car for Carl Edwards. MacDonald Motorsports entered two cars for this race, #71-Randy MacDonald and #72-Dale Quarterley. Quarterley failed to qualify, but the team decided to put him in the No. 71 car for the race because he had a sponsor. Driver changes: DC | Hank Parker, Jr. | 60 | Charter Communications | Jack Roush | Ford DC | Randy MacDonald | 71 | MacDonald Motorsports | Pat MacDonald | Chevrolet (The No. 71 car was unsponsored prior to the driver change.) 33.
