This was a generally successful test, resulting in a victory despite a couple of blown engines - though even those can be useful: determining which engine 'experiments' succeed and which ones fail can provide helpful information for the engine builders at the Cup level. 2. Casey Mears almost won his first Busch Series race but the engine didn't pick up fuel on the final restart and he ended up 4th. Good run for Kurt, 3/3 in top 5s. :) 3. dalejrfan14 posted: 05.28.2006 - 4:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Flips for Car.Congrats. 4. dalejrfan14 posted: 05.28.2006 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Oh and also a congrats to SHephard for 3 reasons 1.Making a race finally 2.Qualifying remoteley well for his standards 3.Showing he can still race 5. Two hard crashes in the first 10 laps, Stewart's wreck setup for him breaking his shoulder blade in the 600. 7. Maybe he should have run with Powerade sponsorship for the remainder of 2006 and he would have had more great results..... 8. Jamie McMurray's team suspected problems with RF tire after qualifying but performed only brief check for start from the back was not considered an option. Well, on L2 this very RF tire blew up and Jamie smashed the wall. The following crash of Tony Stewart was scary to watch. Track bar failure exiting T4 sends Smoke into the wall, and his car went along for 300-400 feet, sputtering debris all around. Tony was visibly shaken, his shoulder was hurt, but ultimately he was cleared to drive in Coca-Cola 600. Was astounded with the reaction of two fans who rushed to the fence, pointing fists and yelling to Smoke. What a bunch of dumbasses! During one of the cautions Denny Hamlin went to the pits to change battery, Routine procedure took almost two laps, a crew member was not able to attach cords properly, maybe even swapping polarity, causing a short circuit. Luckily Denny as able to continue. On L133 Kenseth dropped a cylinder. He was going to visit pit lane but for some reason decided not to do it. The result was him blowing up and causing another caution. Didn't understand what he was doing. Brad Parrott made this race much more interesting and it looked like his call was going to pay off, since Casey Mears was going to make it on fuel. But on the last restart he had problems with fuel pickup and lost two positions, eventually giving the win to Edwards. I suppose Carl would've passed Casey anyway, but still, who knows... 10. He then pops a RF tire and is sent to the hospital with a concussion on lap 2. Perfectly encapsulates his career. 13.
