He must have caused about 50 dozen wrecks out there. Does Kim Crosby mentor him or something? James Hylton makes his second career Busch start. Although it lasted for a few laps, it was great to see a NASCAR legend be on the track again! 2. dalejrfan15 posted: 06.25.2006 - 2:10 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) YAY Menard fuinally gets a win after so many tries. And since when has james Hylton been racing again? 3. nascarman posted: 06.25.2006 - 2:54 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) First time less than 43 cars were racing since 2003. 4. Aric Almirola originally qualifed on the pole in this race, but had to give it up to Denny Hamlin. 5. Second straight top 5 for Mike Wallace, first top 10 of 2006 for Stacy Compton and Danny O'Quinn get his best finish(7th). Jason Leffler finished 4th after spinning out while leading with about 40 to go and Paul Menard led the rest of the way for his 1st career busch series race! Good race, congrats Paul. 6. Martin Truex Jr will relieve him at Daytona. Yeah, only 41 cars. Probably the only setback to having no Buschwhackers in "away" races. I would have thought Paul Menard's first Busch win would have been at Daytona or Talladega, but his 3rd place finish in last year's race at Milwaukee was no fluke. It looked like on one of the last restarts, Menard went slower through 1 and 2 than Kevin Harvick anticipated, which was why they made contact. Harvick backed off to avoid spinning Paul out, and J.J. Yeley, who was probably focusing on holding off a fast Jason Leffler, got into Harvick, and triggered the wreck. Another Top 5 for Mike Wallace (5th), first Top 10 of the year for, in my opinion one of the most ignored drivers in NA$CAR, Stacy Compton (6th; it is his first Top 10 since Pikes Peak in 2005), as was mentioned above, rookies Danny O'Quinn Jr and David Reutimann finish in the Top 10 (third straight Top 10 for David), and Auggie Vidovich, who I still don't know anything about, finishes a career best 15th. Jay Sauter's 11th place finish places the 01 car in the Top 30 in owner points, displacing the 36 car, ironically driven by his brother Tim. 9. michael posted: 06.28.2006 - 10:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) i am so proud of paul menard gets his first win 10. underdogfan posted: 07.23.2006 - 6:58 am Rate this comment: (3) (1) Go Hylton!!!! Yeehoo!!!!! Stop knockin' Harvick, It's called racing for the win, and I don't think he hit Menard hard enough. They did a driver switch and Hamlin won and Almirola got the victory. A dejected Almirola was spotted leaving the track even before it was over. I lost a bit of respect for Joe Gibbs but I understand why he did it. 19. CFob posted: 03.19.2011 - 1:23 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) #18: Wrong race, bro. 20. Paul posted: 02.07.2016 - 12:31 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) There were six substitute drivers on-hand for the Cup drivers who were puling double-duty during this race weekend and traveling back-and-forth between the Milwaukee Mile and Sears Point. Here's a list of those six drivers: #2 - Brandon Miller (sub for Clint Bowyer) #5 - Justin Labonte/Dennis Setzer (sub for Kyle Busch) [Labonte practiced the car, but Setzer qualified the car.] #18 - Casey Atwood (sub for J.J. Yeley) #20 - Aric Almirola (sub for Denny Hamlin) [Kertus Davis served as the substitute driver for the No. 20 team at Nashville and Kentucky, but he was unavailable at Milwaukee because he was driving the No. 0 car for his dad's Busch team instead.] #21 - Randy LaJoie (sub for Kevin Harvick) #60 - Hank Parker, Jr. (sub for Carl Edwards) Four of those six drivers would participate in both practice and qualifying sessions for the drivers for whom they had served as substitutes (The two RCR drivers, Harvick and Bowyer, were able to arrive in time to qualify their respective cars.) Also, Reed Sorenson, who had competed in each of the first 16 races during the 2006 Busch Series season, decided to remain in California and focus solely on the Cup race. The team decided to keep Sorenson at Sears Point largely because he entered this race ranked 12th in the Busch Series championship standings, so it didn't make sense for them to fly him back-and-forth long distance considering he was out of the championship hunt. (The six remaining full-time double-duty drivers were all in the top-7 in Busch points at the time.) Funny enough, his replacement in the No. 41 Busch car was his fellow rookie Cup teammate, David Stremme, who he himself had been replaced by Scott Pruett for the Cup race at Sears Point. This would be the only Busch race that Sorenson would miss during the 2006 season. 23.
