At least Johnny Sauter led the most laps, and Jason Keller had a great return to the sports. First NASCAR start for Juan Montoya, and I must say, he did quite well. I'm not saying he's a lock for ROTY next year, but he may do better than I thought he would. Dexter Bean also makes his NASCAR debut, and Justin Labonte, Shelby Howard, and Joey Miller return to NASCAR. 3. race_fan posted: 10.30.2006 - 1:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kevin Harvick wins again. What a shame. I really liked that kid, but Dollar General didn't think so. Not the first guy they've screwed over since they first started sponsoring in this sport. 12. Unser1 posted: 09.24.2009 - 3:48 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ironically, Dollar General apparently liked Burney and brought him back to run for them again at Braun in 2009 although some Buschwackers forced him from the car again. Joey Miller retired from racing after this event 13. AlmirolaFan88 posted: 03.28.2011 - 12:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Why was Justin Labonte in the #5 car and not Kyle Busch? Anyone remember? 14. Rusty posted: 04.08.2011 - 11:17 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Kyle Busch made an attempt to run for the Nationwide title in 2006, but he like everyone else was so far behind Kevin Harvick. Since he had no shot at the title, he opted to stay in Atlanta to focus on the Cup race rather than make the trip to Memphis. So Hendrick threw Justin Labonte into the #5 car for what would be his last start in this series. 15. Marsh's #31, perhaps best remembered for Steve Park's bizarre Darlington accident, was one of the more memorable teams of the early 2000s Busch series period. 16. Paul posted: 02.07.2016 - 3:54 am Rate this comment: (2) (1) There were seven substitute drivers on-hand for this race while the primary drivers were pulling double-duty and traveling back-and-forth between Memphis and Atlanta. Here's a list of those drivers: #2 - Brandon Miller (sub for Clint Bowyer) #9 - Hermie Sadler (sub for Kasey Kahne) #18 - Mark Green (sub for J.J. Yeley) #20 - Kertus Davis (sub for Denny Hamlin) #21 - Randy LaJoie (sub for Kevin Harvick) #41 - Kevin Hamlin (sub for Reed Sorenson) #60 - Peter Shepherd (sub for Carl Edwards) All seven substitute drivers would qualify these cars as well, forcing the primary drivers to start the race at the rear of the field. Kyle Busch decided to skip this race and focus on the Cup race at Atlanta instead. Justin Labonte, who had been out of a ride all year and served as a substitute driver several times for the No. 5 Busch team during the 2006 season, got to drive the car at Memphis in Busch's place. It would be Labonte's only Busch Series start of the season, and his last start to date. Kenny Wallace was also pulling double-duty between Memphis and Atlanta, except his participation was the opposite of what the other seven drivers had done. He was focusing primarily on the Busch race in Memphis, while Kevin Lepage was helping to prepare his No. 78 car for the Cup race in Atlanta. 17.
