The ending to the worst Busch Series season in history. Truly pathetic that Cup guys think they need the extra testing EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE ALREADY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN NASCAR COMPETITION!!!! Unoffically, Danny O'Quinn beat John Andretti for ROTY. Not sure how though. They were tied coming into this race. 2. Kenny Wallace fails to finish Top 10 in points for the first time in 10 years. 6. I'm also anxious about how that Car of Tomorrow thing will work. I just hope that the obstinant pinheads who run NASCAR will be willing to scrap it if it indeed fails. 9. He was replaced by David Ragan for two races in September, though he was ahead of his teammate Todd Kluever in the standings! And folks, John Andretti is not a rookie. 340 Winston/Nextel Cup starts, in my opinion, are far too many to be eligible for rookie-of-the-year in the Busch Series. I accepted Carl Edwards' rookie status in 2005 because he had only 14 Cup starts. But regardless of how little experience he or she has in a Busch car, if a driver has more than 50 Cup starts, he or she should not be eligible. Aside from O'Quinn being rookie of the year, here are other positive things from the race: though he's losing his ride to Marcos Ambrose, Stacy Compton will return to the Truck Series after 173 consecutive Busch starts (17th) Matt Kenseth won consecutive Busch races for the second time (he won at Dover and Charlotte in the fall of 2000) DNQ list: #80 Robert Richardson, #70 Justin Diercks*, #72 D.J. Kennington, #0 Kertus Davis, #04 Kraig Kinser, #68 Dawayne Bryan, #49 Morgan Shepherd, #08 Trevor Boys, #05 Brett Rowe 10. Maybe Andretti conceded so as to avoid controversy over the fact he was a two-time winner in Cup? I like both of the candidates, so it doesn't matter to me, but I think someone's wallets got stuffed at NA$CAR. 11. Dan posted: 11.21.2006 - 6:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm pretty sure they throw out the driver's 12 worst finishes (or something like that) for the RotY battle. O'Quinn beat Andretti by a single point for the RotY title. He won't be back in the 50 car with RR in 2007, though. 12. Steve posted: 12.05.2006 - 2:59 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) O'Quinn wins rookie of the year, and then Roush doesn't secure a ride for him for 2007. What's that about? One positive thing I forgot to mention is that NBC/TNT have NO MORE BUSCH TELECASTS!!! 13. Thomas posted: 01.22.2007 - 6:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) No more NBC/TNT Busch telecasts is right! I think they take the 15 best finishes for every driver in contention for ROTY, then they do a bunch of other weird crap, and then it ultimately comes down to peer-vote done by members of a board that are appointed by NASCAR. They usually do pick the driver with the most points. However, the board may have figured that Danny O'Quinn deserved it more since he is a true rookie. The NASCAR ROTY points system is probably the most confusing, arbitrary, and ridiculous points system in all of motorsports (unless you really, really hate the Cha$e for the Cup.) Ken Schrader said the ROTY points system makes less sense than Chinese Algebra on an episode of Inside Nextel Cup. 14. Steve posted: 02.05.2007 - 5:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I hear Danny O'Quinn Jr. may have a 4 or 5 race deal with Mac Hill Motorsports (#56 Chevrolet) for 2007. Jayski used to keep track of the Nextel Cup rookie of the year battle, but if you go to the Rookie of the Year page, he has stated that he will no longer try to give updates; it's just too confusing. I say the rookie who scores the most points (according to the regular points) should be rookie of the year. And I take back what I said about having 50 Cup starts making you ineligible for Busch ROTY. I think if you have lost eligibility for rookie status in any one NA$CAR division, that should apply to all lower divisions as well. 16. biffle16 posted: 04.24.2007 - 2:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Why didn't Kleuver win Rookie Of The Year, then? Jack Roush has money and money = EVIL so that's all he does is stuff, stuff, stuff those NASCAR pockets! That Rookie of the Year title sure means a WHOLE lot to Jack, especially since Danny is one of his long term drivers! Oh, wait. Didn't he fire Danny? Oh well! He MUST have paid off NASCAR (or NA$CAR, depending on your maturity and how close you pay attention) to get Danny that ROTY title anyway! !!!!! 19. All of these are combined to decide the rookie of the year. O'Quinn probably got enough points in the panel voting to overtake Andretti. 22.
