On lap 117 Wimmer got loose and was tagged by Cassil, he went head on into the wall and collected sorenson. As he backed down the track he got Bliss and ripped off all of the #1 cars side sheetmetal. Wimmer continued to spin and was hit by Steve Wallace, who had no where to go (as shown by his roof cam). That resulted in a 25minute red flag. Then on lap 142 Brad Keselowski clipped Reutimann taking them both into the wall. Reutimann was done for the race. After the race the always modest Keselowski said that he was faster than Reutimann and that he was blocking him. He also said..and i quote.."sucks for him" Bravo to the maturity of this young man. 5. As he continues to mature he will learn to back off in that situation. Nevertheless he managed to get back into the top 15 after a few pit stops and looked on his way to a top 10 finish untill he was involved in the Wimmer crash. But because of all the field fillers he still finished 26th 6. WallaceFan posted: 07.20.2008 - 11:46 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great race for Morgan Shepherd, in a car supplied by Kevin Harvick. I swear if he drove for Gibbs he would be a champ. Also great job by Cousin Carl, Logano, Keller, Leffler, Cassill, and James Buescher. Buescher is the real deal. His worst career finish is 18th. 7. When you hit the wall 3 laps into the race, it will cause your handling to go away, and leave you in the mid pack area where all the chaos happens. The Driver Who Shall Not Be Named should've known that. Big time congrats to Jason Keller and his extremely small organization for finishing 3rd. Also congrats to Morgan Shepherd for a great qualifying run and running in the Top 20 before he ran out of tires. He deserves something good for trying to get the word out about Jesus. Reut screwed up. He had an awesome car, but wasn't aware of Keselowski on his outside. He is still the best thing going at MWR. Great recovery by Brad by the way. 9. Tim posted: 07.20.2008 - 7:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good run by James Buescher as well. Wrecked in qualifying but drove his machine to a nice soild 7th place effort. First career top-ten. Morgan Shepherd ran great in the first twenty laps. He was in the top-twenty when he decided to stay out on the first caution. Retired after the second; not sure if brakes were really the issue or decided to park after leading the laps. Noteworthy efforts by K. Wallace and E. McClure in third-class equipment as well. 10. It's not like he ran like a idiot and took out a ton of cars. 11. A Jeff Gordon Fan posted: 07.20.2008 - 9:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Awesome Race. I went to this race and it was a blast. Congratulations to Carl Edwards and the 60 team on the win. Also good job for Keselowski on making it up to fifth after a crash. 12. WillG_46 posted: 07.21.2008 - 8:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think Morgan did run out of brakes. Even after staying out under that caution, he solidly stayed in the top 10 for about 7-8 laps before plummeting through the field and eventually retiring. He obviously had some sort of problem with the car. On another note, Nick Tucker failed to qualify for this race. In qualifying, Jerry Punch mentioned that he was Derrike Cope's young cousin, seconds before he crashed. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, huh? 15. WallaceFan posted: 07.21.2008 - 1:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) WillG-46..ahaha thats a good point. Second, Steve Wallace did not wreck anyone in this race, he was caught up in one. Brad Keselowski started a wreck. 16. Dodge posted: 07.22.2008 - 7:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brad Keselowski started a wreck. WallaceFan It looked like it was Reutimann that caused it because Brad was on the OUTSIDE and David just didn't give him ANY room. 17. DaleSrFanForever posted: 07.22.2008 - 5:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Kesolowski/Reut wreck was David's fault. He wasn't clear and drove up to the wall. Maybe his spotter didn't tell him, but it was his fault. He had a great car and was probably trying too hard. When you drive the pieces of junk he has had to drive at MWR, he doesn't know what to do when racing up front. 18. Apparently WillG_46 forgets that Derrike Cope is a former Daytona 500 winner, and in my opinion, an underrated driver. 21. DaleSrFanForever posted: 07.23.2008 - 2:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) That 1990 Daytona 500 win was the biggest fluke in the history of auto racing. The later Dover win was impressive, but he never came close again. He found himself in quite a few wrecks in the years since. 22. WallaceFan posted: 07.23.2008 - 7:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This board is full of Keselowski bandwagoners. The kid is driving one of the best cars out there, (and dont say JR is no good..because its a Hendrick car anyways) his head is as big as his overbite, and he will fall back down to earth soon. He's driving good, yes, but he's no superstar. He has Reed Sorenson - Casey Mears potential. But he needs to get his act together and take responsibility for his actions. 23. Dodge posted: 07.23.2008 - 9:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What a surprise, Wallacefan. Steve is always in wrecks but someone like Keselowski is in a very few and shows a lot of potential YOU believe is going to amount to nothing much. Just shows how smart you are. Steve Wallace is going to amount to nothing in NASCAR while Brad will be racing in Cup someday. By the way, I have liked Brad since he drove for his fathers truck team. I may be wrong about Keselowski in Cup but the Steven Wallace debate if he will ever amount to anything is definately over. STEVE WALLACE WILL NEVER BE A QUALITY DRIVER. 24. DaleSrFanForever posted: 07.24.2008 - 12:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't see where the controversy over Kesolowski is coming from. He hasn't been involved in many dust ups this year, and I think he has shown a ton of maturity. Driving with Dale Jr as your owner (even though all real fans know he is just a figurehead owner) is a very high profile job. He speaks with a lot of confidence, but not cockiness. Remember, he had a right to be mad at Reut because he screwed up his race too. It took one hell of a drive to come back to fifth. He probably could have finished 2nd (no one was touching Edwards) were it not for that, and gained even more points over Bowyer (who is floundering). That he didn't say more towards Reut shows more maturity than people much older than him. And yes, Dodge, it is very ironic that someone who is such an apologist for The Driver Who Shall Not Be Named is all over Brad. Brad is the true example of "showing improvement" and "gaining maturity". He is the true embodiment of what WallaceFan claims that The Driver Who Shall Not Be Named is. He is talented (unlike S**** W******), he is getting involved in less and less wrecks (unlike S**** W******), he runs up front and contends for wins and has actually won (unlike S**** W******), and has fought his way back to the front after adversity on the track instead of making bad situations worse (unlike S**** W******). 25. New88Fan posted: 07.24.2008 - 3:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can we all just stop with the Keselowski and Wallace bashing, it's getting old. The wreck with Reutimann was a racing deal, like SrFan said maybe David's spotter failed to tell him Brad was on his outside which is a shame because he probably had the only car that could run with Edwards. As for Steve Wallace(or "The Driver Who Shall Not Be Named".XD) the lap three crash was his own doing (many other drivers have done the samething though )it left him as a sitting duck right in the "eye of the storm". Hopefully he'll learn to be more patient in the future. Until then,we shouldn't put him on a pedestal, it just makes it harder for him. 26. Rad83 posted: 07.25.2008 - 1:35 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) About Derrike Cope, he wasn't bad in the early 90's, because of his Crew Chief: Buddy parrott. Derrike was not good, he just had good chemistry with a good team. As for the biggest fluke in Auto Racing, that would be June 29, 2008. Agree, DaleSrfan?:)! 27. DaleSrFanForever posted: 07.25.2008 - 1:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) As far as the magnitude of the fluke, as in how the top 7 became the top 7, then yes, that is probably the biggest fluke. Although the 2007 Coke 600 is close. At least Kurt Busch, a former champion, won at Loudon. Casey Mears won the 600. CASEY MEARS?? Are you kidding me?? It is really a toss up. On one hand you have Kyle Petty (bless his soul) in the Top 5 for the first time since 1932 or something like that. On the other hand you have Michael Waltrip, as the owner and the driver (talk about double jeopardy!!), with a rare non-restrictor plate Top 5. JJ Yeley was in the top 5 for both, his only career Top 5s. And I honestly can't remember the rest because I am too depressed about this to look it up, even though it is only a few clicks away on this site. As far as magnitude goes, I guess it is a tie. The Loudon race gets bonus points for the weather situation, but the Charlotte race was won by CASEY MEARS. This is a topic that could be debated intelligently forever, and still have no resolution. I'm gonna go cry now. 28. DaleSrFanForever posted: 07.25.2008 - 1:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) BTW, I forgot Buddy Parrott was Cope's crew chief. He probably should have won a lot more. As one of many talented young drivers chewed up and spit out by the superteam juggernaut and its "win now" mentality, Shane appears to have put his driving days behind him, now serving as a crew member (and interim crew chief) for Rusty Wallace Inc. 32. Paul Wolfe, on loan from Michael Waltrip Racing via Fitz Racing, was returned to the Fitz #22 team instead, in an undisclosed role for the time being. Scott Wimmer took one heck of a nasty lick in this one, hitting the wall head-on and taking Reed Sorenson with him after getting hit by Landon Cassill. Wimmer then collected innocent victims Steven Wallace (yes, innocent victim, strange but true!) and Mike Bliss. The cars of Bliss and Wimmer were completely destroyed; Bliss had a wheel torn off and took a brief airborne hop, leaving him noticeably winded after getting out of the car. Wallace's team actually got him back on track, sans front bodywork, modified-style, but he was flagged off track in the closing laps with stray sheetmetal and tape beginning to flap everywhere. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
