After they got out of pit sequence early, Kenny Wallace, Mark Green, and Chase Miller were riding in the top 5. Green had sway bar problems, but the other kept it up. KENNY WALLACE! he was the fastest on the track at one point getting as high as 2nd! Great run for him and that team, just awsome. Austin Dillon, how bout that kid. 2nd race, kept his nsoe clean and just ran great. GREAT, and i mean GREAT runs for Reut (2laps down at one point), Kenny, Austin, Logano, Miller, and many others. 2. Hamilton pulled down Cassills window net and grabbed him a bit. THEN! Hamiltons wife got in front of the car and FLIPPED CASSILL THE BIRD! or as landon called it "the hawaiain good luck sign" haha it was memorable to say the least. 3. He kept his nose clean all day, battled hard, and drove to a great 8th place finish. 5 hour energy seems to really be helping as he has 3top 10s in 6races for that sponsor. 4. This year, 3 more. 7 wrecks in his last two races, EVEN I think that is too many. Get him off the track 5. Love Kenny and can't wait to watch Raceday to see his round of applause from John Roberts and Jimmy Spencer! 7. He's always come across as a sawed-off, arrogant jerkwad and yesterday didn't disprove that theory at all. 8. This isn't a height joke about him (though those are funny), he just acts so immature. He looked so ridiculous running towards Landon's car, opening his window net, and reaching in for him. Especially with his helmet and HANS device on. He looked like he was going into a nuclear reactor. Just childish. But I was equally disappointed with Landon's interview. There is a great article about this here: http://racingwithrich.com/?p=466 I think he was a little too easy on Bobby Jr, but it is a great summation of the frustration we feel as NASCAR fans, and the fact that it ain't gonna get any better. With the horizon full of young punks like Landon, the future looks rough. 12. Anonymous posted: 10.27.2008 - 3:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Green had a great run before having problems. That has been the most overlooked team this year. 13. So I don't expect anything to change in the foreseeable future. 15. They should allow 4-7 Cup drivers in each race and not let any, except rookies, run the full schedule. 16. Dodge posted: 10.31.2008 - 9:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) I agree Willy. But the promoters would whine and say they need a lot more like my last post said. Blame NASCAR, they took dates away from tracks that don't host Cup races and give them to Cup tracks. 17. Paul posted: 03.19.2017 - 5:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) There were six substitute drivers on-hand during this Memphis/Atlanta NASCAR weekend: #2 - Stephen Leicht (sub for Clint Bowyer) [both practices and qualifying] #6 - Auggie Vidovich (sub for David Ragan) [both practices and qualifying] #20 - Casey Atwood (sub for Joey Logano) [both practices] #59 - Robert Pressley (sub for Marcos Ambrose) [both practices and qualifying] #60 - Bobby East (sub for Carl Edwards) [both practices and qualifying] #99 - Josh Wise (sub for David Reutimann) [both practices and qualifying] Joey Logano was the only double-duty driver to qualify his car. Josh Wise was the most impressive of the substitute drivers, as he qualified 3rd in the No. 99 car. Despite the fact that they had to start from the back, Carl Edwards and David Reutimann finished 1-2 in this race, with Edwards also leading a race-high 185 laps. Stanton Barrett DNQ'd in his No. 30 car, so he put himself in his team's No. 31 car that Kenny Hendrick had driven all weekend prior to the race. 22. So, what does it mean? Really, not much of anything, it's more of an interesting statistical oddity but not an omen. While that number was higher than it usually is, it doesn't match any kind of trend as the 8 instances were put up by 8 different drivers across short tracks, intermediates and road courses. And while that was a more frequent occurrence than the polesitter actually winning the race - which happened 7 times - it also had no impact on the championship battle as neither title contender (Clint Bowyer & Carl Edwards) ever made that list, though Edwards won the pole at Darlington and crashed out not long after the green flag but before he could lead a lap. Isn't this just such a fun and meaningful stat? 29.
