Candraco posted: 05.24.2009 - 8:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) hey hey hey NOW THIS WAS A RACE! i didnt care for the green/yellow start i never have agreed with it at all. but watching Kyle Busch pass cars left and right on the first lap to go from 38th to 23rd in 1 lap was amazing ive never seen such a thing done before and hope to see it again not necessarily from busch kyle busch ultimatly deserved the win he did the most work but as far as i am with all the dang cup drivers racing in the lower series (was especially miffed when busch ran the iowa race last weekend) my standpoint is if all the cup guys are in the lower series when will we see new guys the new guys who cut thier teeth to get to the nationwide series basically green have even more undue pressure on them to do well instead of competing for wins. (sorry mini rant) as for the rain shortened race... im against nascar calling a race very early i think they should do what they did at california in the cup series last year i liked that idea just didnt like staying up to all hours of the night for the next update on the track. in the end it was interesting to see a race that unfolded with only 13 cars on the lead lap and a whole bunch of series regulars take center stage with one finally winning one. although Mike Bliss is a cup series driver its on a part time basis so i consider him to be a series regular in the nationwide series although after i heard him talk in victory lane i have lost all respect for the guy that was uncalled for and i sure as heck didnt need to hear it from him. Here is what he said: When Asked if he stole a win here was his response: "Yeah, We did, but from a guy who wins to much (Busch) and nobody likes him" that comment got me as the great larry mac likes to say FIRED UP! i dont care who you are when you win a race Especially when it has been a long time since your last one you dont need to be ragging on drivers in victory lane. im sorry i could go into a much larger rant but im going to cut it off right there. 2. They respect his talent, sure, but I bet they (like most) think he's a petulant little crybaby. 3. DaleSrFanForever posted: 05.24.2009 - 11:55 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) I know this win was the ultimate fluke, a combination of a lucky caution and a lucky rain shower, but I am so glad that a Nationwide regular was able to steal this win from a couple of Cup drivers. They deserve it. Kyle shows up as a Cup driver with a Cup organization and cup engineers and a Cup pit crew, and gets beat. Was it a fluke? Yes. Does he deserve the bitter taste of defeat? Absolutely. "Kyle is not well-liked among his peers. They respect his talent, sure, but I bet they (like most) think he's a petulant little crybaby." Exactly. Kyle's domination won't last forever. Right now Gibbs has such an advantage, especially in horsepower. The announcers fawn over Kyle and his aggressive moves on the restarts. Believe me, every other driver would do the same thing of they had his horsepower. They'll catch up soon, and torture Kyle the way he has tortured everyone else. 4. Gaughan got the lucky dog, everyone else was on the tail end. It was pretty cool to watch the last 10 laps as those two battled it out for the win, side by side. Good runs for those two, Vickers, Logano and Scott Speed. 5. First race he finished this year that wasnt in the Top 15. 6. Even though it largely due to rain and a lucky caution,it's great to finally see a Nationwide regular get the win after having to stomache the Cup guys steamrolling through this series.James Finch now has two wins in two of the top series this year. 10. Anonymous posted: 05.24.2009 - 5:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Candraco, I am sure other drivers think the same thing about kyle Busch as Mike Bliss does. The catch is they don't have the balls to say it when the media is around. There is no question about his talent, but he really comes off as a crybaby, or someone that is very immature. I am sure Bliss respects his talent, but not his attitude. 11. Jeremy Siple posted: 05.24.2009 - 5:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Donny Lia's car owner was Pete Szekeres. 12. Bronco posted: 05.24.2009 - 8:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Very refreshing to finally see a Nationwide regular win a race (even though it was rain shortened), that also a Nationwide regular driving for a small team. The battle at the end between Mike and Brendan was great and it was nice to see a rookie run second. To me Mike deserved this win more than Kenseth's Daytona 380 fluke. When is Carl going to win a race this year? He's led every race except Texas and has four poles but no wins. I think Drew Blickensderfer leaving the team really hurt him. And it think it stinks that start and park idiots like Chapman and Cook get to race but guys who actually run all the laps like Shepherd and Townley miss it. 13. Anonymous posted: 05.24.2009 - 8:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bronco, Don't blame Cook and Champman. Blame their owner Phil Parsons for fielding those two cars a first place. MSRP Motorsports is owned by Phil Parsons. Phil also is the owner of the 66 car in cup for Prim Motorsports. The 66 car is known to start and park also. Phil is fielding those teams because he wants to gave people work and to collect a paycheck outside of being an announcer for truck series races. 14. Cup race is suspended intil Monday. GREAT! JUST FRIKKEN GREAT! now i get to watch one of my most favorite races of the year in the daylight when its supposed to be a night race. you know what im actually hoping it gets postponed until the next available date which is july 18th when they have more time to prepare. 16. Silver Crown racer turned Truck Champion Mike Bliss scored one of his few Xfinity wins. It was also James Finch's 13th Xfinity win as car owner, and would be his second to last victory. 33. On that afternoon, Busch and Bliss by far had the best cars in the field, frequently pulling away as they led a combined 201 of 207 laps, but it was Busch that came out on top. Bliss quickly opined that if it weren't for the Cup drivers in that field, he might have led those 201 laps himself. Well, it wasn't as dominating as he would have liked, but Bliss got this win on a night where Busch alone had the strongest car in the field. Starting at the rear was of little consequence to Busch, but the he couldn't overcome poor track position quite so fast the next time around when a caution just before the end of the second round of green flag pit stops left Bliss and Bliss alone on the lead lap. Beyond lucky dog Brendan Gaughan - who did briefly pass Bliss for the lead at one point - Bliss had a clear track in his mirror when Busch restarted in third place but nearly a full lap behind Bliss. Kyle Busch is very good, and his car was very good, but making up that much of a gap in what turned out to be about 10 laps was far too herculean a task for even him. And while the win could definitely be classified as an upset of sorts, there could have been far more undeserving winners that night than Bliss, who hung around just outside of the top five for much of the (shortened) race. 36. Mannoroth posted: 02.26.2021 - 7:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 35. Kyle Busch was so strong in this race that he made it from 38th to 10th in just 12 laps under green. On the other hand, I don't think Kyle would "lap the entire field" in just 40 laps to get to Mike Bliss, either, if the race was caution free till the checkered flag. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
